He should stay in school another year.  I’m his biggest "fan" I guess you can say.  I called him the #1pick in this years draft almost a year ago.  It’s hard to ask a kid to stay in school when he can be the 1st pick in the draft but in this case even more so than others in the past,  Jojo should stay another year and "invest in himself".  Kansas does a great job in making mediocre bigs into pros, imagine how much better this kid can get at KU next year rather than being thrown in the fire next season in the league.  He has all the tools plus some.  Just invest in yourself JoJo, might be the difference between you being an All-Star or a Hall of Famer.  Plus a front line of JoJo and Cliff Alexander next year could be historically great….

Man would have to be crazy to stay in school when he stands to be, at worst, #2 overall.  The only thing that might keep him from #1 is that Milwaukee has two super athletic, young shot blockers on the roster, and might be better served doing something about the gaping hole they have on the wing.

KU has a great program, but I really doubt that another year of limited practices, attending classes, and playing against guys vastly inferior to you would actually do more for a guy’s development than playing in the NBA, where he will get more and better coaching & a chance to push himself against better players.  College basketball is great for guys who aren’t ready for the pros; not so much for guys who are.

When you add in the financial risk associated with sticking around, it is a no-brainer.

I don’t see much of a financial risk.  If he were to stay its almost impossible for him to drop more than a spot or two in the draft WORST CASE SCENARIO.  The financial gains though come down the road as he’d just be a better more developed  player in the near future.  Against Texas he had probably his worst game of the season due to Cam Ridleys size and physical play.   In the NBA is where you get limited practice time due to a grueling schedule and less one on one work.  In the NBA players get better over the summer not during season.

If he stays and something happens, he could drop a lot more than 1 or 2 spots – ankles break, ACLs tear, etc.

If you don’t think NBA players get better during the season, you haven’t paid much attention to the NBA.  Dunking on the same guys you dunked on last year just doesn’t do much for a player with Embiid’s ability.  I get why Kansas fans would want him to stay, but let’s face it: were it not for NBA rules, he’d already be in the league.

here’s a couple reasons why embiid should not stay.

    1.  his stock is at all time high.  it doesn’t make sense with the possibility of a sophmore slump or injury.

    2.  cliff alexander is another reason.  dude is a beast and polished from what i saw when they beat the #1 high school team.  he’s going to take a lot of touches from embiid in the post.  right now, he’s the only post threat cause tarik black fouls out of every game by the 3rd quarter and traylor is more of a hustle, defensive player.

Anybody who drafts him know they aren’t going to get an allstar in his rookie season. Big guys take a long time to develop and every NBA team knows this. Working on his game in the NBA would be much better for his game than staying in college. Only bad things happen for guys that are top picks that stay in school.

He should come out of school.  He is at 1 right now on many mocks, and is a top 3 lock.  Then if Kansas loses Wiggins, possibly Selden, and maybe Perry Ellis, then Joel Embiid will come back to a less stacked team that won’t do as well.  There is also a possibility that Cliff Alexander plays better/puts up better stats which would drop Embiid’s stock some.

Right now, he might be projected as a CAN’T MISS GUY even though that might not be reality.  Maybe he is the next Olden Polynice or something…

He’s already 240-250 pounds. He can probably add a lot more weight in pros. The conditioning alone would be worth it.

He seems big enough, but he’s got a lot to learn about pushing big guys around. He’s had very limited exposure to very big guys and didn’t get to score much at all when he got out-muscled. Luckily, he can add a lot to his frame and you can see glimpses of ferociousness time to time.

Embiid in a little bit of a funk the last 2 games. Texas strength bothered him and then against Baylor he was in foul trouble. The biggest concern though is his touch not being there. Against both he still got some good looks but he was way off on them. Hopefully getting back to AFH he’ll get back to old self.
