ChrispyParticipantOk, I am not at all a Sixers guy (KNICKS, BABY!!), but I am a KU guy. I am sooooo excited for this guy to finally get out there and do his thing. First game will be against rough and tumble, and much improved, Steven Adams. This is a pretty serious first test. Anyone else watching? I am pissin’ off a lot of the locals down here because I had the bar change from Mexican futbol!!!! I hope Joel is worth getting stabbed later!!!

SeattleSuperChronicsParticipantEmbiid is gunna be a monster if he can stay healthy. The most skilled big man I have ever seen.

BeastMode716Participantwas astonishing – it was his 1st NBA game & he was shredding the OKC front court & going shot for shot w/ Westbrook in the final minutes
Holy Uck! This kid was rusty, not in game shape & the Refs were not giving him calls b/c he’s a Rookie in his FIRST game & he was easily the Most dominant player on that court & that is Really saying something when Russell Westbrook is playing for the other team

ThunderHog35ParticipantHe will be good but he wore down late in the game which is completely understandable. He was 2-5 from the field but hit most of his free throws in the forth quarter and had a rough turnover near the end. It was interesting to see him be so patient. I figured after all that lay off time he’d get in the post and bang and try to be too physical but he showed a lot of finesse and patience though he went through a few too many fakes at times.
I was watching and when OKC rolled out Kanter and Adams, I was surprised Brown never went with Embiid and Okafor to see how they’d combat the line. I guess when they were both on 20 minute or less restrictions, it’s hard to get both out there together but I think it would have been fasicnating to see.
Either way strong showing for the Sixers, they’re gonna force opponents into some unexpected tough nights.

HitsterParticipant20 points on an NBA debut is impressive but when you consider he only played 22 mins, it makes it all the more remarkable. The guy will be warranting double teams on many occasions going forward and when they get guys around him to spread the play then he could be putting up numbers to rival the very top players.

McDunkinThat "trust the process" chant was amazing

omphalosParticipantI’m doing a report on Hinkie’s relationship with the media to finish off my degree and I was reading through old articles around the time they drafted Embiid just as that chant broke out.
It was a magical moment. If Embiid didn’t get hurt in season 2 then Hinkie would be widely considered a genius – Joel is so damn good!

JoeWolf1It’s crazy how much of a difference maker he is right now. His “feel” on offense was really only so/so but still managed to be a major force. I like how in the 3rd and 4th quarter he realized he could face up Adams and not have to take more difficult (yet still makeable ones for him). He also drove around him a couple times which was a nice glimpse.
On defense he blew a couple of double teams, but legitimately protected the rim, and as the game wore on, guys either decided not to drive or jacked up a lot of bad shots because of his presence. He also swallowed defensive rebounds, and didn’t back down from Adams’ physicality, and really Embiid looked at the very least as strong as Adams, and at times stronger.
I said this about him in college, that there is almost an “Oh shit, Embiid is on the court” vibe. Teams and players just didn’t really know what to do with him. It’s not quite at the same level as it was in college last night, but even in the NBA there’s an element of that kind of presence.

SubZeroParticipantKnock on wood he stays healthy. I hope he does because I love big men and miss the 90s style post play and if he, KAT, and AD all stay healthy, they’ll be running the league for a long time. Hakeem is my favorite big guy ever but I was too young to watch him, and seeing Embiid feels like the closest to it that I’ll ever get. I’m an OKC fan but watching him was a joy, I almost fist pumped when he matched Westbrook’s go ahead shot in the last minute

SlickBouncePassParticipantAll are welcome. I’m so happy all the IFs were put to rest. This guy has so much promise, that you can’t help but think about the negatives. What if he got injured in that 4th quarter? How sad would the basketball world be?
He is a star on and off the court and we’ve been seeing it develop from the day he got drafted to the Rihanna twitter antics to walking the streets of Philly in crutches to the chants of the crowds to the self-titled perfect nickname to the "love the fans" instagram posts….he’s a star, he’s magnetic.
