ESPN’s Tom Haberstroh wrote an article about Joel Embiid and the 76ers future in sports science; espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/14938684/man-charged-healing-joel-embiid. I fount this article interesting and intriguing what the future of the 76ers stands.

I like the idea of the 76ers trying to do something different with the way to handle injuries and trying to prevent future injuries.

Sports Science has advanced in many sports and a lot of major sports teams or individual sportsmen look at how other sports train competitors, rehab them, even feed them to try and gain that little extra advantage.

Some injuries require specialist rehab or have to be tended to by the world’s best surgeons. When a team has invested millions in a player, they need to protect that commodity.

Great Article. I have always believed strectching and warming up right help a lot to prevent injuries.

I would think that Yoga would be a great way for the athletes body to stretch muscles so when they do hyper extend a knee or whatever, hopefully it stretches instead of snapping. Getting them to do it once a week is tought though since they don’t want to look silly doing yoga.

When they autopsied the famous racehorse Secrateriat…. He supposedly had a giant Heart…… Literally almost double the size of a normal Race horse’s heart…… Race Horses only have a short burst at top speed compared to the whole race…… maybe an 1/8 or 1/4 mile tops….. that’s why the jockey is so important….. but Secrateriet could fun faster for longer than any other horse…… & after he died they found out why…..

And just like certain humans can jump higher or run faster than others….. there are certain outliers who have the internal equipment to perform at top levels for longer b/c of the way their circulatory system functions….. SO testing for that could be HUGE…… It was fascinating that those scientists predicted the Australian kid had the potential to be better than Lance Armstrong on the Cycle….. And then he won the Tour De France years later……

We see it in Professional Prize fighting all the time…… If both fighters press, the one w/ better "Stamina" overcomes the other…… We call it "Stamina"…. but it really means whose system can function longer at peak performance when the blood is Oxygen depleted…… The implications for Pro Basketball are obvious…..

It’s fascinating that Phila & I’m sure other teams are exploring these methods…….
