I’ve been debating with my friend on who is better for the last 2 days and he said Roy is more clutch and that’s when I disagreed, then we decided to see who hit a buzzer beating game winner first… And 1 day after that deal, Joe Johnson sinks a buzzer beater to beat the Bobcats… Couple of hours later, Brandon Roy hits one aswell to beat the Wizards and his text came in seconds later..

If you had to win a game TONIGHT.. if you had to start a franchise obviously the player would be Roy because of his age.. But if you had to win a game tonight..

Joe Johnson: 21.5ppg – 4.7apg – 4.7rpg
Brandon Roy: 22.3ppg – 4.8apg – 4.5rpg

This is a tough tough one but I have to go with Joe Johnson, he’s bigger and more stronger but that’s all I got..

I would go Joe Johnson because of height because but it is close cause Roy has them moves but the biggest thing about making a shot is getting it off and with Johnson’s height and length advantage you kinda lean his way.

Johnson is a better shooter and clutch but Roy is better at driving and finishing at the rim.

I would take Roy, i think he has an easier time getting to the spot he wants to get to. This is very hard though because Johnson is so tall he can just shot right over his defender. I still take Roy.

In my eyes Johnson would be the perfect second option if paired with another great perimeter player. Can i have both?

Johnson has the size advantage being that he’s about 25 lbs heavier and once inch taller… He’s the better 3P shooter and on ball defender… That’s it though. I think Roy is better or just as good at everything else.

Roy is more clutch and more aggressive when the game is on the line. I’m not sure Johnson is the most clutch on his team right now.

Roy is smoother, maybe even more athletic. He has a better pace to his game and gets to the rim better. He dribbles and finishes with both hands better than majority of the players in the league. His pull up is money. He gets to line… Finishes through contact. Roy is the better basketball player.

I take Joe Johnson over Brandon Roy, except for in the 4th quarter. Joe hit a big game-winner last night, but he is far from a clutch player and he is known and very prone to disappear in the late stages of games on most nights if the game is close.

Joe has a better post up game, a better jump shot, better passing skills, and he gets to the rim and finishes very well no matter what because of his strength and touch. He also is a better defender and he can play on and off the ball with nearly equal effectiveness, Roy needs the ball to be a truly elite player.

Yea… That’s one of the problems I do have with Roy. He’s not great at playing off the ball just yet, BUT… He’s improved this season due to having to play with another ball dominant player in Andre Miller.

I would take Joe although its close. The way Joe stepped it up against the Celtics a couple yrs back was just too impressive. Im sure Roy can do the same thing i just have not seen it from him yet.

Its clear the top 4 SG’s are Kobe&Wade on 1 level…Roy&Joe on the next….Who is the 5th best SG in the league? Mayo, Butler, Martin???? and what level would they be

I think Stephen Jackson is the 5th best SG in the game now…He’s has no weaknesses really other than being a little TO prone with the ball.

I’m sorry, but this guy means so much more to the Blazers than Joe does for the Hawks…Just watch the 2 play for a whole game and you’ll know what I’m talking about. Not to take anything away from Joe, he’s a great player…But B-Roy is a better player and means more to the Blazers than Joe does to the Hawks….Plus Roy is younger so we know he can get better (playing without ball, defense etc).

Btw Iggy-Johnson isn’t half as good as Roy at finishing around the rim…Roy is ambidextrous when he finishes. That’s why he never gets blocked when he drives to the rim…Also, B-Roy is a better ball handler and he can take over a game and I’m not sure if Johnson is an elite first option…Though he would be the perfect second option to a dominant big man…And to your point about B-Roy about only being elite with the ball…While that is true, he has improved drastically playing w/o the ball and LeBron needs the ball in his hands to be effective as well but im not gonna take anything from LBJ because of that…Understand what you’re saying though.

I can see this is a difficult one.. I mean both of these guys are terrific players…

Tier 2:
Brandon Roy
Joe Johnson

And tier 2 is a looong way from tier 3
