usatoday.com is reporting that Jimmer will sign with the Bulls when/if he clears waivers. 

Jimmer’s offensive ability is still somewhat unknown. We all know he’s an elite shooter and he’s one of the highest points per minute players in the NBA over the last two years. However, his role is sporadic and it’s impossible to say how he would be over the course of a game if the defense was focused in on him. Also, he turns the ball over at a high rate and it’s hard to say how this will change/continue when/if he has a predictable role. Still, it seems clear he’s a strength offensively.

Defense has long been the criticism of Jimmer. He was bad at BYU and he’s bad now. Many people blame his athleticism. However, I don’t agree. He tested out at least OK in all of the athletic drills at the combine. I really believe he has a disadvantage athletically, but that his real struggle is focus/training. In any case, if this area can be corrected, Chicago is probably the best place to make that happen. 

I never expect Jimmer to be a great defender, but I think he could, with a ton of work and technique become a passable defender that could survive with a stalwart defender partnering up with him in the back court. In any case, I hope things go well for him. The turnstyle in SacTown did him no favors. I’d love to see this college star and life-long underdog have a solid NBA career.

 When you have a defensive guru coaching you in Thibs…your bound to learn or improve defensively. So it might be a good move for Jimmer. I’m not suggesting he’s going to become a defensive stopper but if defence is a hole in his game where better to learn than under Thibs?

People shook their heads when the Bulls signed Dunleavy,but his outside shooting spreads the floor..A great coach will always find a way for a player to succeed in his system if the player is willing to listen ….

 I’m glad Jimmer is close to finding a team but a tad puzzled with the Bulls as the landing spot. I want to see Jimmer play for an extended period of time… let’s see what this kid can do.

 I could very well be wrong, but I have a feeling he won’t be a Thibs fav come playoff time. You don’t go this long without playing defense only for something to click in your mid 20s. Again, I hope I’m wrong because a league with Jimmer is a better league.

We all know Jimmers weaknesses but I would love to have him on my team if the rest of my team doesn’t creat very well (which the Bulls don’t). Jimmer has those hercky jerky hesitations that create space and I think he will be a valuable contributor for the Bulls. Nate Rob and DJ Augustin are a couple of recent examples of guards who have played much better under Thibs then they did anywhere else.
