This could be the breakthrough Raps fans have been looking for.I think Bayless can develop into a very good PG if givern oppurtunity consistantly. With Calderon not on this road trip he should get plenty of run.

he’s nothing more than a good sixth man in the role of a Lou Williams. I just don’t think he has the leadership or passing skills to be a starting point guard(atleast for a good team).

Bayless looking good, I still see him as a 6th man scorer off the bench. Almost the Barbosa role now.

At this point, he probably be best served in a 6th man role. But I still think he has the potential to be a starting point guard who obviously looks more for his own shot. If he was drafted by a team that woulda gave him the ball from the time he was drafted and allow him to grow into the position with no pressure, then he coulda been good thus far. He coulda been just like Westbrook, if a team would just live with his mistakes at 1st and let him learn, I have no doubt he’d be a solid starter. He’s still young though, a guy like Billups had similar issues early in his career, being stuck between positions, not having an organization really back you and give you a chance. But it ended up working out for him after a lot of hard work and a team finally giving him a shot.

    26-points, 8-assists, 9/14 from the field, 0 turnovers, in 38 minutes.

Someone had to score…Andrea Bargnani was out as well.

I like Bayless, but I honesty don’t think he’s the answer to your point guard problems.

26 and 8 on 0 turnovers is a very good game. Thats probally his best game ever despite the loss. Someone had to score, so Bayless stpped up, scored facilitated, didnt turn the ball over, all while trying to gaurd D Rose.

It is a great game, but you don’t want to get caught into that when:

    • Bargnani was out, giving Bayless almost unlimited shots
    • Derrick Rose isn’t a great defensive player

I think he’s a great role player, back up player for the Raptors down the line. While he had 8 assists, I don’t think he’s a great playmaker, he’s alright. I think he can provide 10-13 off the bench and help off the bench. If you are believing he’s a starting point guard, you will be disappointed.

24-ppg, 8-assists, 3-rebounds, 1 steal, and only 2 turnovers in the 2 games he has started in place of Calderon. Looking prety good.

You say he is only scoring this well because Calderon and Bargnani are out, well great! That is exactly what Triano wanted to see when he put Bayless in the starting lineup. With those 2 out, and Bayless able to pickup the scoring with them out the Raptors become a much better defensive team, a better rebounding team, a much more balanced team as far as roles defined goes, and obviously a much better team. They played Chicago and almost beat them for the second time this year (if not for Rose going MVP all over the Raps), and beat Orlando a team that is trying to gear up for the playoffs. They would not have won those games with Bargnani playing.

I believe he is a better starting point gaurd hen Jose Calderon and potentially a better starting PG then anyone in the upcoming draft. Anytime he gets at least 32 minutes in a game the Raptors play much better, and he plays great as well. He is a streaky shooter and he needs to miss a few before he catches his streak, so having a short leash on Bayless is a big no no. He gives a very good defensive effort on opponents PGs and plays with leadership and passion. The kids ready.

In the 8 games he has played starter minutes (32mpg and more) Bayless posted averages of 18-ppg, 4.5-rpg, 8-apg, 1-spg, 2.5-topg, 57% FG and 32% 3PT. Thats not bad considering the defensive "effort" he gives, and potential he has in that field. Calderons defense is just too bad.

Im not saying he is going to be a Top 10 PG in the legue, and Im not saying he is a true PG, but he definitely brings a new dimension to this Raptors team, and if this team wants to evolve they need to start Bayless. Calderon was part of the Bosh era to me, and that era is as dead as ever. Jerryds got next.
