if you was a player whoyou rather be coach by sloan or jackson.
personally i would want to be coach by sloan. simply because i would play point guard. and i know he wouldnt get mad if i have one bad game(phil jackson)he knows the game , he seems like a good person who cares about you. i think me and him would get along just fine.

If I was a pg, then definitely Sloan. The triangle offense is not a pg offense. But otherwise I would take Phil. I think it is a joke that Sloan hasn’t won a coach of the year award though.

Phil Jackson. No homo, but it would be awesome to talk to him regularly. He knows so much about the game and i feel that he’s a players coach and lets his players play. Phil Jackson is hands down the best NBA coach ever imo

Phil Jackson is one hell of a coach, but lets not pretend that he didnt have two of the best players of all time to coach. People act like he is the best coach of all time but coaches cant do anything without talent. The lakers before they got Gasol were a very average team. They were a first round knock out. Phil Jackson just didnt get better, the talent got better Its just like with Doc Rivers, they can hardly win a game but then you give them two allstars to go along with Pierce and they win a championship. I believe coachs are very overrated. but anyway. my pick is sloan

They were in a duel in the 1997 and 1998 NBA Finals and I’ve got respect for both geniuses… Phil Jackson has that calming influence on everybody that’s why he’s one of the best… I think it’s injustice for Jerry Sloan not to have any Coach of the Year award when guys like Rick Carlisle, Doc Rivers and Mike Brown had won it… Come on! Let’s give Sloan his due… He stayed with the Jazz longer than anybody else on any NBA team… Phil Jackson is my pick but that’s because he has a long list of achievements…

If you think having John Stockton (Arguably the best point guard ever… Steals and Assist records will never be broken) and Karl Malone (Arguably the best power forward ever) is having less to work with… Then I don’t know what else to say.

Phil has the better system, relates to his players better, gets more out of his players… And just is the better coach.

There’s no question that Phil has had a lot of talent, but let’s look at what he has done in perspective:

took over Bulls before they had ever gotten out of east and immedaitely led them to championships.

lost Jordan, and still won 55 games and advanced in playoffs with Pete Meyers starting at sg

took over a lakers team that never got out of west and immediately led them to titles

he left and then came back to take over a young and inexperienced team that missed the playoffs the previous year added little talent and was expected to miss playoffs again, and he took them to 45 wins, the 7th seed and had a tough 7 game series against the heavily favored suns.

led them to ’08 finals without 2 starters

Sloan is great too, but let’s not dis Phil and what he has done.

phil jackson hands down. people always bi*ch and moan about he had this or that player..all the coaches who win titles have real good players so thats no excuse. red had the best players in the leauge for years yet people dont question his titles. you dont win 10 (soon to be 11 and 12) by luck or just because you have the best player in the nba on youre team. and sloan used to yank dwill out of games his rookie year and does the same with ronnie price in place of brevin knight and hart last year even though price is clearly better

you know what impressed me most about Sloan, was when the Jazz made the transition from Malone and Stocketon to a rebuilding team before DWill got there and became a star. There were a couple years were I thought the Jazz would be absolutely pathetic, but Sloan got the most out of the talent and the Jazz were still playing .500 ball. I think they won 41 games one year with no all stars and missed the playoffs and I thought he should have won the coach of the year award hands down. Far too often the award is just given out to whoever wins the most games.

Thank you Tezo….How does a coach that’s had John Stockton and Karl Malone, and currently Deron Williams and Carlos Boozer have less to work with (in the sense that his players are not very talented)? I would go with Phil Jackson, and I do think its ridiculous for Sloan not to have a Coach of the Year award. He’s a hell of a coach and a teacher from what I’ve seen and heard, and he does get the most out of players and gets less talented guys to overachieve. But Jackson does the same and he’s the ultimate winner, probably the best in sports.

yeah, that’s the season I was probably reffering to. I remember thinking they would be the worst team in the league that year, and when they won half their games, I thought Sloan should have been handed the award on the spot. But just like the mvp award, it’s all about having the best record.

not here nor there, but IMO best coach in lg is POP hands down…. Sloan + jackson are awesome, but there products of their systems.. jacksons is called i only coach superstars (poor doug collins could have won a ship’ in Chi-town)…. Sloan runs a tigh ship too, and been running same pick n roll for years.. if its not broke dont fix it.. Pop just wins, no matter who is on his team.
