Jeremy Tyler is having a good showing for the Mavs summer league team. In his last season in the NBA he put up some solid numbers in limited minutes.

He has a 7’5″ wingspan and is 6’10”, 260 with high  level athleticism.

This last season in China Tyler averaged 22.1 points on 53.5 percent shooting and 11.2 rebounds in 41 games as the second option on his team.

At only 24 years old could he be this years Hassan Whiteside for the Mavs or another team?

 I’ve always liked him. China must have been good for him. He needed a confidence boost. Deciding to go abroad the 1st time was the worst decision ever. He’s shown glimpses before. I thought the Lakers were gonna give him a roster spot last year. Maybe he’ll finally get a shot.

 He has been a pro every years since and has made money playing pro ball. He is looking better and is only 24. Looks like a smart decision to me. I think about guys who stayed and killed themselves. Going abroad was a very wise decision too if the kid did not care a ounce about school, trouble could have followed. He was mature enough for it and here he is. Good decision Tyler.

If a team asks him to set picks, rebound, crash the glass and finish dump offs, I don’t see why he can’t be at least a solid backup big man. He’s big, athletic and even if he’s dumber than a box of rocks, he can play 15 minutes a night and not hurt you. Question is, is he willing to take that kind of role and play with energy and do the little things? This was a highly touted big man, probably told everyday how great he is, can he develop into a good ROLE player?
