If Lin had got more playing time before the All Star starters were announced, China would have voted him in over Rose and Wade.

China should promote voting Yi Jianlin as an All Star Starter.

I would laugh so hard seeing Yi starting alongside LeBron, while making a mockery of fan voting.

Thank goodness, I was afraid this thread was about him getting cut, because his contract is only garunteed if he sticks on the roster after tomorrow, and if it weren’t for that 25 point game, he may have gotten the boot to make room for BDiddy.

In other news, Jeremy Lin already has 9 points and 7 assists with Melo leaving the game with a strained groin.  Who would have thought Steve Novak comes in and scores 10 points in 5 minutes of pt to replace Melo,

    With 0 turnovers!

I’m so happy for him. I’ve always said all he needs is playing time.

Lin (Harvard) and Fields (Stanford) have to be the smartest starting backcourt in the history of the NBA LOL

no Amare, melo playing only 5 minutes and they still got the win. As a knick fan i hope he continues to play well, i know he wont score 25 every night but its good to have a traditional pg, this way shumpert can play the 2 which is much better for him and the team because shumpert dont know how to get everybody involved.

I saw the end of the game and noticed Melo on the sideline and had his street clothes on. I know he was done for with the groin injury, but for some reason, that bothered me.

As I stated in the Wesley Johnson thread about a week ago………..

You give ANY NBA player 30+ minutes with a long leash they will produce.

    Prime example Jeremy Lin.

I love a good Knicks bandwagon. Is this one going to be more Sergio Rodriguez being the next great D’Antoni point guard or Iman Shumpert being the next Dwyane Wade?

    bennydabull, no, Lin is Chinese.

Lin said, "It’s humbling, a privilege, and a honor. I’m really proud of being Chinese, I’m really proud of my parents being from Taiwan. I just thank God for the opportunity."

     Lol, step your knowledge up.

My parents are from Taiwan too, but at the end of the day we still consider ourselves Chinese in our roots. I’m Taiwanese American, but I’ll also say I’m Chinese.

Doesn’t matter though, he’s American born. Don’t think China cares unless its a home bred player (Yao, Yi).

Jeremy Lin, showed the odds of a player coming from an Academic Instition, minority background, a guy not giving up on his dream and staying patience for his moment. This guy story is a testimony for college players who don’t go to big schools and not giving up on their dream. Lin may not be Chinese but he is definitely representing the Asian community for the NBA at the moment.

I’m pretty sure you don’t have to even be from China. T-Mac was like 2nd in votes behind Yao a lot of years, main reason being he was Yao’s teammate. Don’t get me wrong, T-Mac was still an all-star, but when he went to the Rockets his votes sky rocketed, no pun intended, even though his play did the opposite as he started to get plagued with injury. He was still an all-star caliber player and I’m sure would have made the team all those years, but he would not have gotten nearly as many had he not been Yao’s teammate. It is suprising Yi actually has never made it just because of this. Was he ever on the ballot?

The Republic of China (created in 1912) got Taiwan and a couple of other islands when Japan surrendered in 1945. But the Communists took the power and created the People’s Republic of China, forcing the ROC to establish its governement in Taiwan.

Since then, both governements (Republic of China, "Taiwan-China", and  People’s Republic of China, "Mainland-China") claim to be the true representant of "China".

That’s why Lin can say he’s Chinese, although his parents are from Taiwan.

I hope this helps to clarify this crucial BB question

      ^ thats not completely true

Taiwan was given up by China in 1895. "When the War actually ended in 1945, the Allied powers agreed that Chiang’s troops would "temporarily occupy Taiwan, on behalf of the Allied forces."

There was no documentation saying that Taiwan is returned to China or whoever after WWII. Basically, Taiwan is an independent NATION (i didnt use the word "country" for those people who are saying taiwan is not a country). However, the KMT or nationalist party from China fled to taiwan a few years later claiming that Taiwan is the real China, which is just whatever.

Whether if Jeremy Lin is Taiwanese or Chinese, it doesnt really matter. He is breaking the stereotypes, and setting a new path and example for the younger generation of asians.

BEST OF LUCK, my Lin brother! (lol, we shared the same last name and same birth date)

And we’re supposed to believe DaleWorthington is 58… smh..

I’m still not on this bandwagon.  He’s an NBA player, they all have their days.

Leave it to Knicks fans to overhype everyone.  One day, Stoudemire is the best PF in the league.  Melo is better than Durant.  Baron Davis will save New York.  Landry Fields is the next Joe Johnson.  Toney Douglas is the next Chauncey Billups.  Iman Shumpert is the next Dwyane Wade.  What’s Lin going to be?

Lin has a good motor he keeps going, unlike other Knicks guards that don’t even penetrate.

In the 1st half the Knicks missed like 4 layups on would be assists from him too.

Kid looks good out there and finally some home wins for the Knicks.

As for the crazy comparisons they turned out pretty good on guys like Gallo, Chandler, Nate Robinson, David Lee.

How did Stoudemire do last year before the trade.

The other ones just leave you scratching your head especially with Shumpert only thing he has in common with a young Wade is they are both big with inconsistent jumpers.  I do like Shumpert though, he just needs to be smarter with his shot selection.

Kind of like the crazy comparisons about Brandon Jennings after 2 great months in his rookie year where guys on here had him going to the HOF.

Theres nothing not awesome about Jeremy Lin’s run he’s having right here. Granted, he isn’t close to a legit starting PG in the league, but the fact he is carrying this Knicks team that sports about 8 D league players is pretty awesome. Good luck to him going forward, and hopefully he proves most of the people in this thread wrong.

Good thing the highlights are availabel. Since Time Warner and MSG are fighting over money, MSG is pulled off Time Warner cable. Of course that is the most common cable in New York City, so basically the average NY fan can’t watch the Knicks. NBA TV had Knicks game last night, but it was blackedout in the NY area. This stinks but I get it, it is about money and MSG is for profit and god knows I have little to no love for Time Warner.

I don’t know how Wall is going to take the J. Lin show coming to his house tomorrow. Lin first made his pro name driving against Wall in summer league games. It got him some buzz and Wall probably remembers that. However, the game that I’m interested in is Lakers game on Friday (had to write Lakers instead of LA because now one would also be excited about the Clippers coming to town). Always big when Lakers come to town. Kobe continues his scoring mission. But Fisher and Goudelock probably can’t guard Lin though they will start with trying that. I think they are going to have to put Kobe on him, which is kind of amazing that Lin is coming up and a team will have to use Kobe to contain him. That game could be a lot of fun for us guys who have though Lin deserved a better chance and I’ve got to find a way to watch it despite Time Warner and MSG feuding.
