With the recent play of Dennis Schroeder is Jeff Teague becoming expendable?

Schroeder has grown from game to game and plays a bit like Parker IMO. Coach Bud has learnt under Pop and I think he would know exactly how to use him effectively.

If you were Atl would you part with Teague as Schroeder and Mack have done a fantastic job?

Im not sure they would actively shop, but gotta listen to offers no doubt.

Main issue is: which team is willing to give up something substantial for Teague? He is a very nice PG, probably top 10 in the league right now but he is not a franchise-changing player. In addition, the PG position is very deep and only a handfull of teams are actually searching for an upgrade at the point, while also having the pieces to entice the Hawks:
    – Hornets (package around Stephenson, putting a two-PG line-up with Walker and Teague?)
    – Knicks (package around Hardaway Jr. and draft picks? Probably not enough)
    – Kings (package around one of their two-guards?)

Actually, going over these names I don’t see any team able to pry Teague away from the Hawks… 😉

I don’t think the Hawks can afford to give up Teague right now.  Their team is too good to turn the keys over to a PG that, while he shows promise, would probably struggle in terms of playing winning basketball in starting minutes right now.

Schroder shows a lot of potential, but we’re talking about a guy that isn’t very efficient as a scorer and doesn’t have a good A:TO ratio either.  And on a team that relies on the 3 ball as much as Atlanta does, I’m not sure they want their lead ball-handler to be a guy that cannot shoot.

As well as Dennis has been playing, I really hope he doesn’t take much minutes from Teague; well as long as he’s still in ATL. Teague is beast. I may be the biggest Jeff Teague supporter out here as I really root for him. His game is really fun to watch for me, with the blow-by quickness combined with smooth finishing ability around the rim. His floaters are NOICE.

I really think if he gets more minutes he posts all-star numbers. Every time I see the stat sheet, I see like 20 and 7 but with only like 30 mins playing time. I want coach Bud to give him more honestly but that’s just me.

I dont think they should give him up, he brings a certain factor to the that dennis does not. ITs a must to have a athletic guard in the nba now

No. I like Denis Schroder, but he’s not ready to take Jeff Teague’s spot. Not even close.

Teague is underrated, especially when you consider he’s only getting paid $8 million per season. That’s the same as George Hill and less than a lot of point guards that Teague is better than.

I like the fact that Teague has experienced the playoffs every season of his career. He’s paid his dues playing behind and alongside veteran players. I just think that now is his time and he’ll only continue to get better. I went to every playoff game in Indianapolis last season vs the Pacers and I was impressed with him. He’s tough. Cocky/confident. Fearless. Quick and explosive. Very good in the P&R. He’s an improving shooter and his decision making is getting a lot better. He makes big plays too.

I just think he’s a keeper. He may not be an elite point guard, but I think he’s right under that.

I was just coming on to research the Kings pick for a potential Hawks trade, whether or not its dealt somewhere else. I think it comes down to just how far you think Teague can take the Hawks. I think Schro is our future, been saying that since draft night, and he has made a lot of progression this season. Within the East this year, we have a shot of making it to the finals. I think Clev needs a year to get adjusted and Im not sold on Chicago. Wash and Tor are a threat, but I like our experience to put us over the edge in a series. This alone makes me want to keep Teague as right now he is the better player and pg. I then think he is shopped this off-season because Schro right now needs pt to improve even more. Now, who will want him? I think the Kings would jump at him, after striking out on Rubio, Rondo, and Deron Williams. It’ll be hard to turn down their pick this year, unprotected, Derrick Williams contract and either sg McLemore or Stauskas. Not sure if it’s fair to the Kings, but they have to be desperate now. In this scenario, we take a small step back, probably no longer the favs over Wash/Tor, but we can still make it to second round with Schro and get him valuable experience. This is completely about building towards the future with Schro.

How about Indiana? They seem to like going after home town guys and initial offer of West with future pick may be intriguing.

Imagine a Horford, Millsap and West that is a physically dominant rotation and West can get ample rest as he will will 35yrs old. He would also bring in a wealth of play-off experience and fantastic leadership, which I still feel people under-rate.

Teague and Sefalosha for West and Solo/future 1st rounder(won’t be this upcoming one).

If I am Atlanta, I am not helping Indy get much better with Teague-PG-Hibbert + a top pick this year. They’ll have to throw in 2015 unprotected to even consider.

Yeah that’d never happen, would be to one sided for Atlanta with this draft depth and likely pick.

Atlanta are 21-7, I would not mess up the team chemistry with a trade.

In a league where many players are overpaid, Teague at $8 mill per year is good value.
