Jeff Taylor. How Good is He? Has He Maxed Out?

Jeff Taylor had a decent rookie season and definitely flashed signs of a solid NBA player that can put the ball in the hoop.
In the FIBA tournament Taylor led the Sweden team in scoring with 21.2 points, while shooting almost 47 percent from the floor and 42 percent from the three-point range.
During the summer league he average 20.3 points.
At this current moment he is a better basketball player then MKG.
My question is has Jeff Taylor maxed out? Will he improve? How good of a season is he going to have?
What do you guys think?

Taylor seems to have worked on his offense, from what I’ve seen of his Summer League and pre-season performances. That being said, he’s a defensive player first. I think he gets a few more minutes of time this year because he can play the 2 and 3 and MKG isn’t quite a 35 mpg player at the 3 yet.
I think Taylor can be a starter down the line if he improves his outside shot. I’d bet Taylor puts up improved numbers this season. Around 8 ppg in 22 or 23 mpg or so. I’m not ready to throw MKG under the bus yet and I don’t think he’s going to lose his spot to Taylor. I think MKG will play about 30 mpg at the 3, and Taylor will play about 15-17 mpg at the three and 5 or 6 mpg at the two spot behind Henderson and Gordon.
He looks to me like a guy who plays 10-12 years in the league being a good wing defender and with some work on his shot he could be a true 3 and D player. Kind of reminds me of Keith Bogans, but I will say he has a higher ceiling.

  I agree I will take MKG long term hands down. I think as of today Jeff Taylor is a more complete NBA player. With that being said I still like MKG long term and would give him more minutes to develop this season because the Bobcats aren’t going to win many games no matter who starts.
  I do like the progress Taylor has shown and think he can be a useful player for a long time in the league. You can tell he is dedicated and has shown the progression you want to see from a young guy.

    Yeah, he’s an amazing athlete too, which will continue to help his cause. Many thought he was the best athlete in terms of athletic ability in the 2012 draft class.

  I never thought he’d have a great first season, the Bobcats needed scoring more than anything and that’s the one area he needs work on the most. I still believe he can become an elite defender, great rebounder and one of those glue guys who actually gets playing time. I can see him getting to a level where he averages around 17 ppg/7-8 rpg/3apg/2 spg and 1 bpg. Definitely not too shabby.

He’s a player who should have gone in the first round who didn’t. He’s very similar to Thabo Sefolosha IMO in the role that he will play for them. In terms of scoring, he is stuck behind established ballhogs such as Ben Gordon, Al Jefferson and players who will simply receive more offensive touches such as Kemba, Sessions, Henderson and also MKG and Zeller. He can score if given the touches, but I just don’t think they will be there.

  Sefolosha is a great comparison. It took Sefolosha many years to get a 3pt shot though, and Taylor already has it. It’s very possible Taylor will be the better of the two in the end.

On a side note I think ppl are sleeping on his college teammate John Jenkins. I liked both Jenkins and Taylor @ Vanderbilt and thought both would have decent careers in the NBA…

I had him as a draft day riser, because of his great skills, not so much from his production at Vanderbilt. He displayed solid shooting, terrific athleticism and great defense, that just didn’t correlate to his performances at Vandy. He played well last year, it seems as though he’s ready to take the next step and put it all together this year.

I thought he was a lock as a 1st rounder when he was drafted. I was really high on him.
His main problem junior year was shooting, senior year he shot 40%3pt and was successful off the dribble.
