stepback3ParticipantJeff Green – is he a SF or PF?
What team could use his help if Boston don’t keep him?
How much $$ is he worth?0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/14/2012 - 8:22pm #681897

Lebron’s HairlineParticipantHe’s a stretch 4 he most likely will sign a 1 year deal with Boston for 4-6 million

omphalosParticipantI think he’s a SF. Defensively he’s a lot better defending perimeter players than big men, he was guarding Kobe for stretches in 2010 and doing a decent job of it.
I think Toronto would be a great place for Green to end up if he could be had for the right price. He’s a good defender, can shoot the long ball and is a mature, hard-worker.
Really, if you view him as a SF there are a bunch of places he’d fit right in; the Kings if they go with a PF in the draft, Brooklyn if Wallace bolts, Cleveland if they take a 2-guard in the draft, Washington if they don’t take a SF.
Golden State would be a great fit too, they have a starting SF job up for grabs, and a lineup of Curry, Thompson, Green, Lee and Bogut would be capable of making the playoffs when healthy.

starpyParticipantI see him as a SF. He started in the NBA as a 3, but they moved him to the 4 because Durant was more comfortable as a 3. At SF he has good size, good athleticism, and his rebounding deficiencies would be be much less noticeable. Playing PF just seems to highlight all his weaknesses.
I would be Ecstatic if he went to the Raps as I think he would be a good fit and Im a big Jeff Green fan. Also, the Bobcats as they really need every position but PG really.
In reality though I see Boston re-signing him for maybe 6-8 Million.

omphalosParticipantI didn’t say Bobcats simply because I think SF is going to need to be their franchise player position and Green simply doesn’t have that capacity. They need a guy who can be the first option offensively, and as good as Green is, he isn’t that level of shot-creator.

ghettosermonParticipantDon’t rule out his hometown Wizards to make a run at him if he checks out medically. They could use a versatile team first guy like Green, plus Green spends most of his time down in DC so it would be a comfort thing for him. Of course he might feel obliged to stay with Boston but we aren’t sure with Boston’s priorities yet and where they want to spready their money out. Before the season I would have said Boston would easily re-sign him but now I think they would prefer to try to keep Bass, and if they do plan on bringing back KG that basically kills their shot to keep Green.

PulseGlazerParticipantSupposedly he’s a sure thing to return to Beantown. And he’s a 3 who can stiffle stretch 4’s. Worth his draft spot? No, but still a nice player.

B-ball fanParticipantThe problem with Green at the 3 is that he is a very poor defender as a 3, although that does not change when he goes to the 4. He also isn’t a good 3 point shooter, so he doesn’t space the floor well, and his strengths on offense aren’t really highlighted at the 4, where he doesn’t have a quickness advantage over his defender. He isn’t worth the money he will be paid by somebody. He is no more than a backup 4 in the NBA. I know I will be negged, bur a team expecting him to be a good starter will be disappointed.

JustaFanParticipantJeff Green’s a decent 3… does alot of things well but nothing great… solid contributor on a good team. OKC had him playing out of position and so did Boston in the games I saw him play for the C’s. And coming off heart surgery I seriously doubt someone is going to overpay him… I’ve been going back and forth with your post B-ball fan… i really can’t see someone overypaying him right away but I can’t say I’d be shocked to see a bad contract after all it is the NBA… I hope he stays in Boston, give himself some time to get back right playing behind Paul and playing with a guard like Rondo always makes things easier going forward.
