SwatLakeCityParticipantSo I just realized the Jazz’s backup point guard, Earl Watson, is averaging more assists than the starting point guard is!
Harris=4.5 assists
Watson=4.6 assists
The bad thing is Harris is not backing up his low assist numbers with a high number of PPG. Only 8.9.
Regardless, something is seriously with Devin Harris, and the Jazz need to trade him as soon as possible. This will be one of the trades that I will be expecting to happen by the trade deadline. The Jazz cannot prep for the playoffs (March 15th and on) with a starting PG that doesn’t even lead his team in assists.

JoeWolf1Someone should try to make a move for Eric Bledsoe. He’s playing in the D-League right now or collecting DNP – CD in LA, and could easily be contributing somewhere else. He’s probably not starting caliber yet, but I have a hard time believing he couldn’t play better than Devin Harris is right now.
Chauncey’s ankle could play a part in what they do with him, but he seems like a guy who could help Utah at point guard this year, and for years to come.

lisergxParticipantI really feel that they should bomb this season and get 2 picks (e.g. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Tony Wroten Jr.) who could make an impact for the future, instead of making it to the playoffs and losing in the first round, which would you guys prefer?

CodySLCParticipantOur pg wish list should look like this.
1. D.J. Augustin- Could be moved after drafting Kemba. Maybe for Millsap and Watson?
2. Eric Bledsoe- The Clips have 4pg’s. Even with Billups out, we probably could get him for C.J. Miles.
3. Johnny Flynn- Barely playing, and still really young. Showed he has potential if he stays healthy in his rookie season.
4. Hold out intell the draft and target Kendall Marshall. Not a great shooter, but could easily average double figure assists in the Jazz offence.

The8thDeadlySinParticipantThey should bomb? Really? Arent they sitting in the top 8 in the West? I feel like some of you all dont get the importance of making the playoff, even if you have an early exit. They need to stay with this group until season is over.. If they wanna trade, do it then.. Not while people are playing.. With this crazy season, if you have a solid team, like the Jazz have, you need to keep them together.. What if the injured Clipper was Blake Griffin? That would change everything in the West..
Stick with this team because they are solid and anything can happen.

bloodshyParticipantI like Augustine too, but you’re offering too much. He’s not nearly as good @ the 1 as Sap is @ the 4. Trading Sap for Augustine straight across would be a bad deal for the Jazz. Additionally, Watson is untradeable. You can’t trade players in the same year they signed. And, Sap has a few more years on his contract and the deal is very Jazz friendly. Augustine’s in a contract year. He may be available as a free agent as is.

CodySLCParticipantThats true, but not only are we getting a young talented pg, we get to start Favors and play Kanter more. Favors has been big when he starts, and Kanter has shown he has game. The trade makes room of our younger guys, makes us bigger with those 2 playing more, and solidifies us at pg.

8thdeadlysin, I completely agree with you about the value that you create with your team just making it to the playoffs, but I think most Jazz jans really truly believe that our 2nd and 3rd string PG’s (Tinsley and Watson) are both better than Harris.
Joewolf, completely agree with Bledsoe. I like him. I dont see anything that the Clips really need that we have to offer though.
I like Augustin too, but Paul Millsap is a borderlien all-star this year. There’s no way in heck I’m giving up Millsap even straight up for Augustin. He’s about to get PAID too. I wouldn’t give up more than the GS pick for Augustin.
What about Calderon?

The8thDeadlySinParticipantIt’s not always about how good a guy plays, it’s about how they fit.. Harris is pretty good.. He puts people in spots and he isn’t scared to say stuff to the players… Trust your coach and your PG..

OhCanada-ParticipantTeaching a team how to "bomb a season"" and letting a team give lackluster results becomes infectious. You would have to reprogram those players to be hardworking, effort oriented, winning players. to have that in a team and organization will always be more important than the amount of potential talent you have. Thats why the Cavs have a better record then the Wizards, Raptors, Bobcats, etc. The Cavs dont have more talent then those teams, but they have better fundimentals.

CodySLCParticipantWell ive watched every Jazz game this year. A few in person. And thats what ive seen out of him this season. Me along with most Jazz fans were expecting big things from him. But 9ppg and 4.5 assists isnt cutting it. Tho i have seen a little improvment from him, and i hope he turns it around. He’s definelty not the answer at pg.

The8thDeadlySinParticipantYour opinion is different than mine.. However, I see a PG that is leading a team to the playoffs and possibly a home court advantage.. You can say what you want about the numbers and your expectations but you can’t deny that they are winning with him…
Therefore, I see a good PG..

butidonthavemoneyHarris was never the answer at the point (and he definitely wasn’t the one leading the team to success), but trading him now doesn’t make any sense. Using the amnesty on him would be even worse.
Just for the record, Utah isn’t currently in a playoff spot. They’re 9th in the West.

butidonthavemoneyYeah, he’s probably the best option at the point. I love Earl Watson, but he’s better suited for a bench role. When I said he was never the answer, I meant long-term.
He’s a lot better than how he’s been playing. Utah should continue to be patient with him.

SwatLakeCityParticipantI’m also saying trade him for the future as well. I have watched every Jazz game, and Watson is the one that is being a leader on the team. Harris doesn’t do much at all, doesn’t know how to run the team. Tries to score too much instead of facilitate the offense. Watson on the other hand, runs the offense to perfection. I actually like it when he plays with the starters, but when Harris is out there he is very inefficient and the Jazz just don’t play well. Look at what is happening in the second half verses the first half. The Jazz look like a completely different team in the second half because Watson is running the offense most of the time, and setting players up for good looks, yet in the first half they look too trigger happy, because Harris is trying to score too much and not getting people involved. (They are shooting and missing way too many jumpshots in the first half, but in the second half they play more like a team) When the Jazz trade Harris they need to get someone who can be a leader both on and off the court (because it looks like the Jazz will get a draft pick this year. Probably in the late lottery). They need to get someone like Watson. I’m looking more towards Sessions or Augustin and less towards Bledsoe and Flynn.

bdiddy5115ParticipantI was thinking that if Ainge is set on dealing Rondo (which in my opinion, likely won’t end well), Utah would make a good trading partner.
– Utah could stand to upgrade at PG, and has multiple young assets to offer.
– Boston needs youth, and some quality inside, which Utah has.
