This just in: Utah is not going to be goosed into doing a Carlos Boozer deal.

All summer, we’ve been given breathless updates as to who is “ahead” in the Boozer “sweepstakes,” with the two-time All-Star making his preference for wearing Heat Black next season clear. Three-way trades, two-team trades, all kind of trades–to the Bulls, to the Heat, to the Knicks, with the emphasis on a supposedly imminent deal, the Jazz not possibly being able to welcome Boozer back into the fold next season.

All wrong.

There’s a good chance Carlos Boozer is the starting power forward for Utah in November, with a slighly overpriced backup in Paul Milsap.

Let me say this one more time: Utah is not going to be bullied, rushed or otherwise forced into trading Boozer anywhere. The Jazz is not going to do a deal for a deal’s sake, and certainly isn’t going to do a bad deal. That doesn’t mean Utah isn’t listening to offers (it is) or won’t ultimately get a deal done for Boozer (though Miami will have to do better than combinations featuring Udonis Haslem and Dorell Wright; if the first words out of Riles’s mouth aren’t “Michael Beasley,” forget it).

Whether Boozer or Utah has it right about a supposed “agreement” to trade him (General Manager Kevin O’Connor publicly denied there was an arrangement on Tuesday; a Utah official used a very popular, two-syllable word with me to describe that claim, beginning with “bull…”), the Jazz is going to take its time looking at offers. It is true that Utah has made it clear it’s not likely to re-sign Boozer to a huge contract extension after this season, but that’s a different topic.

has been going around town to town telling every one he will be traded for sure. Yesterday kevin o’connor called him a liar and said he is not in or future plans, but a trade is not immenent. Meaning he wont be traded for nothing.

I think this potential deal could be possible before the start of training camp…a 3-way deal involving the Jazz, Warriors, and Bobcats…the Jazz would send Boozer to the Warriors, the Warriors would send Kelenna Azubuike and Marco Belinelli to the Bobcats, and the Jazz would receive Brandon Wright, Raja Bell, and Speedy Claxton’s contract. The Warriors would get a different type of player in Boozer who is a bruiser on offense down low, while also clearing some of the log jam that they have at the perimeter positions. The Jazz will take on Claxton’s contract which will be paid most likely by insurance, while having the ability to buyout and waive Bell, who’s on the final year of his deal. Brandon Wright is a nice young prospect who can play some backup 4 and 5. The Jazz essentially are dealing with less money, while holding onto a developing player. The Bobcats had proposed the idea of sending Raja Bell straight up to the Warriors for Azubuike and Belinelli, so they get their ideal players. It would all come down to 1. Boozer giving the OK to go to the Warriors. and 2. Waiting for Claxton’s eligibility to be traded in package deal. But all around, seems logical to me.

first of all boozer has no say in where he gets traded to and jazz would not waive raja bell in the 2 years he played in utah he was a fan favorite and a jerry sloan defensive player. claxton would be a great back up to williams and battle ronnie price for the primary backup. send maynor to the dleage to develope and gain confidence next season. wright would be a solid backup to paul millsap.
The warriors would be back as a playoff contender.
I am not to sure the bobcats would gain anything from this trade.

I think the jazz would do a trade with heat for haslem,D. cook, future protected 1st round pick.

He would be dealt before the february trading deadline. Utah doesn’t want to pay the luxury tax.

Thanks j1232e…and just to clarify I don’t mean that Boozer has this “no trade clause,” but since he does have 1 year remaining, it would have to be seen if Boozer realistically would consider re-signing with the Warriors, as I can’t imagine they would be content renting him for one year. As I stated, Claxton’s NBA career is most likely finished, so he probably won’t play at all and why medical insurance will likely take care of the last year on his deal. I know Bell was a fan favorite in Utah, but he will be 33 in Sept, and there may be too much depth at the 2 and 3 postions (Miles, Brewer, Korver, and Kirilenko) for Bell to get any decent playing time. And also, as I previously stated, the Bobcats proposed the Bell for Azubuike and Belinelli move earlier in the off-season, essentially just making a move to add depth at the swingman positions for the Bobcats.

It is also been reported that the Jazz are not very fond of sending Boozer to the Heat with Haslem as the center piece. Getting Brandon Wright and some salary chopped off is probably more ideal for them.

we all no that the jazz don;t want to pay the luxury tax. we all no that boozer is most likely be moved. But what if the jazz have another move up their sleeve. Like trading the very talented but over priced AK. maybe even matt harpring retiring, then some small moves would get them out of the dreaded luxury tax.
