He’s gonna be very good. Brad Stevens gets the most of his guys and always has them playing good inspired team basketball. His players improve whether they are 19 or 32. Brown will continue to improve and when his skill catches up to his physical gifts he will be a problem for the league. Danny Ainge wasn’t gonna mess this one up and people seem to be forgetting the Celtics are a great organization and more often then not throughout history they make the right moves. If Brown got drafted to a different situation I maybe a bit more reserved on predicting he will be an all-star but unless he gets traded the Celtics will turn this guy into a game changer.

he was picked anywhere in the Top 10 of the 2016 Draft & I think it speaks more to the incredible weakness of this Draft than anything else.

Brown was a flat out Bad basketball player Univ of Cal this past year

I luv what the Celtics have done building their team & I don’t really blame them for the Brown pick b/c outside of Simmons & Ingram there was really No one in the 2016 Draft who could help an NBA playoff team

but I just can not see Brown playing much at all for Stevens this year other than garabge time – he is a very poor decision maker – absolutely can not create his own shot – is prone to turning the ball over & he can not shoot.

Aigne would have done well to get almost Any starting NBA player for that #3 pick b/c it was just about worthless to a team looking to challenge Cleveland in the East.

Im on the Jaylen Brown = Jason Richardson/Michael Finley tip.

    Borderline All Star.

Something about his personality just doesnt seem right though. Almost like I expect him to alienate himself from team mates and coaches.

Oh well, I’m no shrink and at the very least he will be hard to stop when he attacks the paint.

I don’t think Jaylen Brown will be an all-star. High School hype can only get you so far…..

Theres no right answer to this thread since its neg-city all round.

So Excuse me if I go off topic…

What does everyone think of the new Delly Signature Sneaker?

I think they look great and I’ll be picking up a couple of pairs in different colorways for sure.

Its funny how many kids on here are like sheep and cannot think for themselves.

If someone is top 4 or 5 ranked highschooler, has a few nice dunks in his mixtape, then is ranked highly on the mocks most the year and gets drafted high on draft day, then most kids just follow the herd and ASSUME they will be an all-star player.

I remember when Anthony Bennett, Terrence Ross and Dion Waiters all got drafted higher than expected, a lot of bandwagoners quickly changed their mind and started jumped on the hype train just because they got drafted so high and you would be quickly negged if you didn’t follow the crowd.

I bet if Jaylen Brown was taken at 8 (like most of us had him) this thread would not of even been created….

If he was taken 8th to the Kings then no it wouldn’t have. But if traded to the Suns yes I think he would develop into an All-star. Wolves-nah, Pelicans-Nah, Nuggets-Nah. Celtics and Suns were his two best landing spots IMO. I’ve seen much less developed into much more, Stevens is one of the best player development coaches in the world and Boston has all the resources necessary to make it work. Brown will be fine.

I wasn’t having a go at you personally ( I didn’t see who the orig poster was ) I was just meaning most of the young users on here don’t have much idea and just follow the crowd….

I must have hit a nerve as I just checked and had about 5 or 6 pages of +1’s or -1’s for my comment….

I didn’t click either and no worries I pretty much knew most people disagree about Jaylen.

brown diallo skal davis and any other one and done prospect is by no means a lock to do anything…

I would expect Boston and their scouts see something you don’t, and if you get down to it the draft is all about %’s and Browns physical tools give him a higher % of likelyhood of being an allstar than the same skilled prospect without the physical tools.

Does it give him a better chance than the less athletic but more skilled (and more mileage) Valentine? Yes actually it does.

I think it’s become popular to hate on Jaylen Brown, and forget everything he does bring to the table.

Was he terribly inconsistent this part year? Yes.

Is his perimeter J shaky? Yes.

Is he not the impact defender that he could be? Yes.

But he’s also a physical freak, who is explosive both vertically, and laterally. He’s built like a tank, and his handle and fluidity is far better than the Winslow types he gets compared to.

And Cal was a mess this year, and played him at the PF spot. He rarely got the ball in spots where he could succeed, yet he was still asked to use a fairly large % of the offense. That’s not a recipe for success for an 18 year old. He seemed to perform better when Wallace was out of the lineup, and he actually had the chance to handle the ball on the perimeter and take defenders to the rim.

    The facts are:

    – He’s a terror in space/transition, and he’ll get the chance to play in it, while he didn’t much at Cal.

    – He’s incredibly intelligent. Some say it’s a negative with his tendency to question things, but he’ll mature and it’ll become an asset.

    – Boston’s scheme and coaching staff are excellent, and he can be brought along slowly, learning from guys like Crowder and Bradley. If there’s anywhere he could develop into an elite defender, it’s in Boston.

    – He’s taken much more heat for an up-and-down Freshman season than nearly anyone. How many Freshman every year have poor seasons but are given the benefit of the doubt as prospects because of their age/growth potential? Brown showed flashes of greatness during conference play.

    – Offensively he has quite a bit of growth potential. To act like he’s simply a raw athlete is ignorant. He’s a strong ball-handler for his size, has excellent body-control and the ability to grow into a capable shooter.
