romeeezybabyParticipantJumping on his bandwagon. I honestly don’t think there is a more athletic Center in the league other than Dwight Howard of course. He’s lanky, has a great feel for the game, and has gotten better each and every year. The Wizards look to have one of the more young exciting front courts with Blatche and McGee achoring them.

OrangeJuiceJonesParticipantHe’s played well so far in Summer League. Did you see when he teabagged Kyle Hines?

Michael.S.ParticipantMcGee played fantastic today. He showed alot of skill; he had a couple nice post moves, he handled the ball, hit short jumpers, dunked on people, and is developing a nice chemistry with Wall.

romeeezybabyParticipantHis improvement is a testament to how hard he’s worked! They interviewed his mom yesterday, and she was an all american at USC for the womans hoop squad. She mentioned that she has a notebad on what Javale needs to improve on everygame and makes him read it. Gotta dig that!

WizardofOzParticipantThat was a big dunk OJJ.
I don’t know if I’m getting ahead of myself, but it seems like McGee has he potential to become a great center. He’s playing like a rich man’s Tyson Chandler right now. They’re basically the same height because Chandler is listed at 7’1″ and McGee is 7’1″ and a 1/4 because he grew an inch and a quarter over the summer, he’s more athletic then Chandler, and he’s catchin a bunch of lobs from John Wall.
I know it’s just SL, but it’s unbelievable the way he’s playing right now.

JNixonParticipantI’ve been saying it since pre-season last year; McGee is WAY more skilled than people think. The word “raw” is thrown around too much when discussing him. He needs some polish, but he has more moves in his arsenal than a BUNCH of NBA bigs at any age. It doesn’t hurt that he’s a big-time athlete with decent face-up skills and he’s physically gifted. If he finds a way to add muscle to his frame (which is as imposing as there is in the NBA) he will be an All-Star C in the NBA.

gregoden08ParticipantBut come on, it’s summer league and he’s supposed to dominate. I’m not on the band wagon yet, but he does have a very bright future ahead of him. Also, Oden is more athletic romeezy.

romeeezybabyParticipantWell aware it’s summer league, i’m not writing him on any all star games yet, but what he brings to the table is amazing! You also can’t ignore how much he’s improved, and how comfortable he looks out on the court. Just because it’s summer league doesn’t mean he’s going to dominate. What’s the excuse on DeAndre Jordan? Haseem Thabeet? I wouldn’t actually say Oden is more athletic than McGee. I have yet to see Oden run the floor like McGee and get up as high as him on dunks.

gregoden08ParticipantWatch them play against each other next year….JaVale has better quickness, but straight up vert goes to Oden. It actually doesn’t matter who’s the better athlete cause Oden is the better player. But yeah, what JaVale has done is very impressive. He has shown glimpses of what he can do offensively, but can he do it in the regular season against other 7 footers? I think he can, but we got to wait and see.

WizardofOzParticipantI think he will add more muscle because he has already put on some weight over the summer. He has even taken up boxing to work on his cardio. It seems like he has a great work ethic and will fill his frame out soon.

JNixonParticipantI hope he does. His potential would be exciting with more strength. Even more so than it is now.

romeeezybabyParticipantis between the two. It was about who’s more athletic. Oden may very well be more athletic than Javale, but I’ve never seen Oden take off like Javale has in a breakaway opprotunity, nor run the floor like he does. I know regardless, of what I say about McGee it isn”t going to get to you. You’re handle kind of gives away where your argument lies at. Just saying.

gregoden08ParticipantI was never talking about breakaways…Was I?

rtbtParticipantI watched Javale McGee one time last season when they were playing against the Knicks. I couldn’t believe it, the guy was blocking and/or intimidating shots all night long. I wondered why we never heard more about him.

gregoden08ParticipantLol I lose…Didn’t know where I was going ROFL.

romeeezybabyParticipantand wish he comes back healthy and back to his form. Never want to see a player that works as hard and talented as Greg go down like that.
0- Posted on: Fri, 07/16/2010 - 5:13pm #355720

gregoden08ParticipantMe too…It’s terrible to see players suffer injuries so early in their career when their learning the ins and outs of the NBA.

sheltwon3ParticipantI always said when he gets stronger and get some minutes, he would be one of the best Centers in the league. He had moves as a rookie but did not have the strength to get close enough to the basket or hold his position. I actually remember who his mom is and you have to think you taught him so stuff.
No son would want their mom being a better player than they are and his mom could ball. His mom has size for her height though so once he gets stronger he will be able to unleash a lot of stuff people saw his mom do to some extent.
Dude is very athletic and really long.
I think Whiteside could take 2 years to add polish and we will be talking about him like we are McGee.

NarcParticipantHis mother, Pamela McGee was one of the first WNBA players…and he looks just like her. But for real McGee has a lot of potential. He has a high motor…its like he has springs for legs.
