Dhamp2ParticipantGranted it’s early in the season, why is Byron Scott only playing James Posey 17 mins a game? He’s better than Morris Peterson and brings more to the team than Peja, who is a better shooter, but a defensive liability. I never bought into the hype of Posey being the new Robert Horry just because he won two championships with seperate teams. However, if the team isn’t going to play Posey (unless he’s hurt), then they should trade him to a contender.

JNixonParticipantYea, Posey is the perfect player for a contending team. Unless the Hornets make a move to get better (like trading for Michael Redd or Rip Hamilton), they need to trade him. He’s not right for a borderline playoff team. I also feel that way about Ryan Gomes.

JoeWolf1Do you think it has anything to do with Julian Wright getting more minutes? He is good defender ( not as good as Posey ) but his increased role is probably taking away some minutes Posey would play at SF. Wright’s mintues are up from 14 to 23 as the Hornets are investing in their future. I agree with you guys though, I think Posey would be a good fit for a contender, especially back in Boston.

Dhamp2ParticipantIgoudala, I hadn’t thought about the Hornets traded for Hamilton! That’s a good idea, depending on who they would have to give up.
JoeWolf, (a former Nuggets player, lol) I have no clue why Wright is even playing. He’s getting better because a few years ago, I wasn’t sure how long he would last in the NBA.

llperezI haven’t seen him play yet this year, haven’t been watching too much hornets. If he is healthy and playing like he did in boston, then he should defenitely be getting more minutes then Wright or MoPete. Either way, he is a little overpaid in todays economy and 6 mill a year for a back up is a lot. Not sure too many teams would be interested in taking on that contract without the hornets taking something not very desirable in return.

pistonsmanParticipantI think Posey would be a good fit in Atlanta, they need some defense on their team.

JNixonParticipantI agree, but who do you think they would have to give up for him?

sheltwon3ParticipantJames Posey needs to be moved while teams are in need because the way the Hornets are going with trying to play younger players, he does not have a fit.

llperezposey only played 7 minutes last game. They just paid him last off-season and it it’s not like there is a lot of comp at those 2-3 positions in Orleans. ANd you know the team is trying to win now because they have Paul and just brought in Okafor, so I’m not buying the this is about Julian Wright developing stuff. I’m thinking dude posey just aint getting it done.

td8118Participantcmon i’ve been sayin that for a while that Rip or Michael Redd are completely perfect fits for the Hornets…To the GM of Hornets, PICK UP HAMILTON OR REDD!!! THEY ARE BOTH ATTAINABLE

llperezwho do they give up to get rip or redd?
0 - Posted on: Thu, 11/05/2009 - 3:49pm #227108

JNixonParticipantProbably Marcus Thornton, Hilton Armstrong and a 1st rounder.

llperezbut rip makes 11 mill and redd makes like 18, the salaries have to be close. Truth is the hornets don’t have a lot of tradeable salaries. Peja(14 mill),okafor(11),posey(6), and MoPete(6) are all over paid. I don’t see too many teams giving up much for those guys.

marcusfizer21ParticipantJames Posey is an X-Factor on a championship level team… Imagine if the Celtics still had him, they would certainly be a very scary team in the NBA… The Hornets have been struggling to the point where they even lose to the Knicks and it took a scolding from Byron Scott to wake them up a little bit… Chris Paul still scares me though but his team does not…
