Has anyone seen him recently, because I haven’t.

UNC’s one of the hottest teams right now, currently riding a six game winning streak, and I can’t help but notice that McAdoo has put up serious numbers over this span.

    18 PPG

    8.8 RPG

    51% FG PCT.

The only issues are that he hasn’t taken a single 3 and he’s only shooting 51% from the charity stripe (the same rate as his FG%).

It looks like he’s committing himself to playing the 4 and that’s a wise choice, so long as he’s willing to bang and get down and dirty down low. Passivity is the enemy of success in the NBA, particularly down low. Maybe McAdoo has gained a sense of urgency and is realizing his immense potential.

He reminds me of Julian Wright in the sense that he’s very athletic and capable of getting the best of NCAA opponents on sheer athleticism and a remedial skillset. That being said, what is his pro position? In what area will he advance? I really don’t know, but I think a few good games, doesn’t make him any more appealing in my mind.

I think he’s a hustle guy at the next level, and I think he’ll probably play in the league longer than Wright, but I think he’s that same role. A 3/4 combo to bring off the bench and get hustle points, and bring some energy. Hopefully McAdoo’s bball IQ will come along because I feel mistakes doom these types of role players, coaches don’t want their hustle players taking bad shots or turning the ball over too much…that is exactly what doomed Wright.

When he wants to, the dude can play. When he’s on, he works hard, scores some good baskets in transition, hustles on the boards, goes after loose balls, and he can be a versatile scorer. He has some pretty glaring weaknesses. He loves his jump shot too much, is ‘soft’ for a guy his size (he prefers finesse/face-up play rather than using his size advantage and banging in the post), cannot shoot free throws, and is a ‘meh’ defender. He is a Derrick Williams clone. He will be the ‘bad’ kind of ‘tweener in that he isn’t strong enough to guard or post up on 4’s in the NBA, and he isn’t quick enough to guard 3’s. I see him as no more than a 6th man on a good team, maybe a starter for a crappy team.

Mcadoo is an NBA player.  He’s a 6th man energy guy off the bench.  He’ll probably be a late first rounder when he comes out and goes to a good team.  He was severely overrated in high school.  I can’t believe he was once considered a top five pick.  He’s showed better toughness with his rebounding and he’s not shooting those god-awful fade away jumpers anymore.  He’s got a surprisingly good handle and can lead a break and has made some nice passes in transition.  He’s one of the biggest head-scratching college prospects I have ever seen.  He has the athleticism to be a big time NBA player, but his mental make-up to dominate and just work hard to be great was never there.  He’s playing about as well as he can play right now. He’s an absolutely abysmal free throw shooter.  he has a good stroke and should be around 75 percent, but it’s obviously mental with him now.  The big question now is whether he rides his momentum to the NBA or comes back next year to possibly win a national championship.  UNC will be loaded next year with the addition of Theo Pinson, Joel Berry and Justin Jackson.  If Mcadoo comes back and continues his aggressive play, UNC could be a final four contender in 2014-2015.

McAdoo has NBA skills. But anyone that drafts him needs to know that he must be set up on offense. If your team struggles at ball movement or a point guard controversy McAdoo will disappear on the court.

But a team like Phoenix would be a great fit. Not even necessarily because the Suns play uptempo… it’s becuase have good guard play and shooters who can give McAdoo a clear lane.

I AGREE! however, I think the sixers would be a good place for him too. if they trade away Thad Young and keep Spencer Hawes, i wouldn’t mind them getting either Gordon or McAdoo. they’re pretty much the same players, in the sense that they’re athletic, tough, good on D (Gordon may be better), no shot and they’re both highly touted coming out of high school.

the spacing should be fine if Hawes stays and noel becomes a Serge Ibaka-esque clone (i read somewhere that’s what the sixers want out of him?). and he should get the ball in some PR and fastbreaks thanks to some MCW. plus! maybe Brett Brown and work with their shot. who knows?

He kinda reminds me of a more athletic Tyler Hansbrough…. Decent but not consistent jumper, can run the floor, similar size [6ft8-9] and every shot he takes he looks like hes getting fouled. Only difference is Tylers motor and whiteness [jokes].

I don’t know about 1st pick but I totally bought the hype on him after the high school all star games. Definitely learned my lesson there.

Julian Wright is a good example James McAdoo. He won’t be much of a contributor in the NBA and is a second round talent.

I think that Marvin Williams is a good comparison for him aswell I thought that he was extremely overrated in High School also but, it’s nice to see him finally start to put it all together.

He been playing great, I can’t wait to see how he plays against Jabari on Thursday. I think he can excell with a pass first point guard and good system in the Pros, he has freakish quickness for a for a big.
