As a diehard Sixers fan I been hearing the rumors about the team needing to trade one of our frontcourt guys to balance out the team positionally. At first I thought that was kinda dumb because we dont know what we have in Joel Embid long term. I thought about it alittle harder and now Im in complete agreement with the idea but only if we can get a Top 5 pick.

On a side note, I think Ben Simmons is as good as Blake Griffin right now even without a jumper, just because of his slightly superior agility and handle; and thats saying alot because Blake is a freak in terms of size vs. agility. I dont think he’ll be as effective overall as LeBron is, but who is? I think the Sixers biggest focus after taking Simmons #1 should be Buddy Hield. Something tells me Buddy is even more special than we already think he is. If the Sixers were somehow able to get both Buddy and Ben I think we’d be set to start building our bench and overall depth behind the starting lineup of:

    C: J. Embid

    PF: N. Noel

    SF: D. Saric

    SG: B. Hield

    PG: B. Simmons

    What u guys think?

Buddy Hield would get zero open 3’s in that line-up, way to trash his confidence. Simmons isn’t playing point in his rookie year. Giannis looks as though he may pave the way for long athletic ball handlers to run the point but throwing him in at point guard and hield into a position where he wouldn’t get an open shot even against Brooklyn would crush them both!

I know Okafor is still young and still has a ways to go but I think he is better than anybody in this draft except for maybe Simmons,  you should be able to get more for him than just the # 3 in a weak draft.

I don’t see a team out there willing to give more than that. Maybe a dark horse team would come into light and offer some Vets for him. But who?

If 6ers get a pick in top 5, I promise you they will take Kris Dunn, the guy is exactly what they need in a PG.

I honestly think the reason the trigger hasn’t been pulled is for one of two reasons:
#1 – Simply trade players rights is the smarter option, over trading the pick before the draft meaning you are unable to trade the next years pick. (Unsure as the pick is technically Brooklyn’s that this still matters….)

#2 – Celtics are still holding out hope at acquiring DeMarcus Cousins, who would be better suited to immediately contribute to the teams Championship aspirations.

It’s only your own pick that you can’t trade consecutive years, unless you do what Brooklyn did and make the middle year a pick swap instead of just a pick.

Ben will not play PG, he would get KILLED by other PG’s in the league. IF the 6ers get the 3rd pick I see them drafting Kris Dunn, they need a PG.

I’m not sure if Boston gives up 3 for Okafor. I think they trade the pick but not for Okafor

Which team would actually improve by having a big that cant pass, shoot, run picknrolls or defend.

His mere presence somehow made the leagues worst team, actually get even worse!

On which possessions does Jahlil Okafor actually help his team?

The ones where the ball gets dumped into the Jahlil abyss, never to be seen again?

Thats not a winning gameplan in 2016.

So if hes on the court and thats all he can so….and you dont dump it down low to him every possession….what exactly is he contributing? At that point hes one of the worst bigmen in the league.

I routinely appreciate your sanity on this ridiculous trade proposal.

You’re almost completely right in regards to Okafor, right now. I watched a lot of 76ers games this year and I’d say Okafor can pass, but often doesn’t and he can shoot from about 20 feet.

To his defense he’s young and it’s possible that he improves. I feel like if Boston gets Okafor he’ll turn into some kind of superstar and learn to play  at least average defense. I feel like the 76ers are going to regret trading Okafor if he goes to Boston. Outside of that I feel like his deficiencies are more costly than his strengths are helpful.

A second pick in the top five would result in Kris Dunn.  He can run off gaurd and is way more effective at the point than Murray or Hield, also a way better defender.  I am pairing Simmons with defense and shooting.

You might have a hard time making the salaries work.  Okafor is on a rookie deal, probably would need a third team.

Sixers are skrewed. They have not 1, not 2, but 3 bigs too many. This isnt the 90s or early 200s, none of these guys are playing small forward. And as small as the game is going, they may not even be 4s (Noel, Okafor, and Embid)

Even in the best case scenario, you still have a a logjam. Saric and Simmons at PF, Embid at C.

Worst case scenario you cant make a trade and you have 5 bigs all who should be starting

You need more than No.3 for Okafor.  If you say Okafor to Phoenix for 4 and 13, ok.  Maybe to Boston for 3 and 16.  Then you can completely remake your backcourt in this draft.  And you still have Lakers No.1 next year and swap with Sac next year.  In this scenario, you get Simmons, one of Murray/Heild/Dunn and then whats remaining of Kormaz, D Murray, Richardson or Beasely.  Plus your 23 and 26, where there will still be some nice depth players remaining.  Or you package 13/16 with 23 and 26 to move back into the top 10 (Jaylen Brown?).  Would you take Simmons, Murray/Hield/Dunn, Brown in this draft and lose Okafor?   I might.
