Just spoke with ESPN 100 #1 player Jabari Parker. List cut to five. No order Stanford, BYU, Duke, Mich St, Florida

I think he will go with MSU. Is BYU for real? When will he go on his mission or whatever, before he is what age? Could there be a scenario where he goes after he is already in the NBA?

I’ll save you guys the suspense, he’s going to michigan state. When he changed his number last year he didn’t give it to any coach except tom izzo. Now what does that tell you?

Stillman White for UNC started his mission after his freshmen season so I believe that is the standard and usually what kids that go to BYU do.  Could he push it back for the NBA?  Yes but he could make a 2 year commitment to his mission before the NBA and I wonder would that effect his draft position?

yeah if he goes to BYU, he would play a year, do a 2 year mission then go to the NBA. but i think he chooses Florida. Him and Kasey Hill would be really good along with Julius Randle

Reggie Rankin just said on twitter like 20 minutes ago that Jabari Parker is attending Marquette Madness with close friend Steve Taylor, who is a former teammate of Parker at Simeon and a top 100 class of 2012 incoming freshman at MU. I know he just named his final 5, but if he is shown serious love by the Marquette fans and Taylor does a good job selling it then maybe he will add us to his list?

Unlikely but just the fact that such highly rated players like Parker are starting to consider Marquette is exciting, hopefully they can start signing some of these guys.

Parker isnt coming to Madness for recruiting purposes but maybe he sees how awesome the school, players and fans are and realizes he should have looked at them and gives them a chance? One can dream.

Lol. He will not add MU to his list. Just going to watch his teammate. Don’t read too much into it. The smart money would be Duke or Mich S because history tells us that’s where top players go. Like I said months ago when people laced at me, do not sleep on BYU. Not saying he’s going there but I live out here in Utah and I know first hand of the power of religion. That religion is why they have turned down billions of dollars that having a football team would generate for the state (no games on Sunday).

yes I know there is little to no chance of him actually considering MU but just the fact that he wants to go with Taylor at all to Madness might show he is a little interested. Buzz never recruited him and I don’t know why cuz their are many small factors that could have swayed him towards us. Guess Buzz thught he was too high ranking. He should’ve tried to form a relationship with him becuse MU is very close to home and is a program on the rise with a play style that fits him plus his teammate goes there. MU would be a much better option than Illinois. Still pumped that possibly the best HS bball player since LeBron is going to be at MU though even if it isnt for recruiting purposes. I would say MSU is the favorite right now.

According to his accolades, I’d say he’s close.

Wiggins is in high school now… He’s better.

Julius Randle is rated higher on some recruiting servers… You’d NEVER see that with Lebron. He was always #1

Wiggins doesnt have remotely close to the same achievements. He just has potential. Parker wins. And BTW Randle only was moved up to #1 on rivals because Parker missed the summer AAU scene with a broken foot. Expect him at #1 again during the season.

Being the best is a combination of ability and accolades. It’s not just about potential, which is what Wiggins has over Jabari.  Jabari’s really good, has been recognized as the best in his class for 3 yrs in a row and he’s the most highly decorated prep basketball player since LeBron. The only other player who comes close as far as recognition goes is Greg Oden.  Combine his ability with his awards and yes, Jabari comes close. For you to dismiss him as "not even close" is just wrong.

Also, who knows how the rankings would’ve ended up if Jabari actually played more this summer?

We’re not talking about LeBron. We’re talking about players since LeBron.

No inside info but MSU makes the most sense imo.

But wouldn’t mind him being the next Grant Hill at Duke.
