TONYDABOSS77ParticipantHaven’t been on in a long time, sorry guys. And Happy Holidays. Been really busy since I’m playing college football..But here’s why I posted something:
I was watching Jabari Parker play UCLA when I started thinking about who he plays like. I’ve heard alotta comps to Melo & Pierce, but here’s one I’ve never heard..Antoine Walker.
They have similarities…6’8 230, Nice range, can put the ball on the floor, can rebound, can run an offense sometimes, struggle defensively, long, nice post game..although Jabari has a better midrange game than Antoine did. Just a thought.
Give me some feedback & here’s something for you guys to watch. My highlight tape isn’t finished yet, but here are a few clips I had on my laptop. Enjoy.
just a few clips…tackle for loss, snap @ left tackle, and a sack..http://t.co/syOoYljkSm

BlueRivers25ParticipantI like the Melo / Paul Pierce comparison. Grant Hill was never a good outside shooter, but great ball handler, defender, slasher.
Parker is a bad ass scorer from all over the court.

TONYDABOSS77ParticipantAntoine Walker once averaged 23,10,6…how is he not skilled?

TONYDABOSS77Participanthow is he way more skilled when Antoine averaged 23,10,6…So are you saying Jabari’s a 30,15,8 guy. I think you’re selling Antoine Walker short.

TONYDABOSS77ParticipantAnd another thing, if you dnt wanna see a Jabari comparison, why’d you click the link when the title clearly said "Jabari Parker comparison". Be smarter man. Plus, this is nbadraft.net. This is a place where hot topics in the NBA such as trades, the draft, the playoffs, etc are discussed. So quit bitching.

aivsdirkParticipantThis heated exchange is over nothing. Still comparing players in my opinion is devalueing the player. You dont know what motivates one player to the next, what they been through, or how they see the court when the seconds are winding down versus another player on the court. I just hope it stops one day.

aivsdirkParticipantseriously what do comparisisons add to the evaluation of a player? if you know the game, then i dont see why an individual cant weigh out a player’s pros and cons without using another person’s game to compare their game. so you be smarter man. could of made your point without being negative about it. Plus your right nbadraft.net post your football stuff on another social website.

MkadozaParticipantAntoine Walker was a player that mismanaged his skills/ didn’t live up to expectations. Expectations were high for Walker preciseily because he was so offensively capable. He could score from any range, but his post up game was his best, and most underutilized weapon. However, too often he was sloppy handling the ball when he tried to play SF, didn’t take advantage of his size, strength and speed combination enough, and too often settled for contested threes. He was a poor rebounder, and could get into stretches where he will never pass the ball back, despite his great court vision. He was an extremely skilled and talented, but poor IQ and a me first player. That why C’s fans would probably describe him as "frustrating".
As for Parker, how about Jamal Mashburn?
0- Posted on: Thu, 12/26/2013 - 5:11am #859012

JoeWolf1Spot on. Walker was so frustrating to watch, and often sacrificed his team’s offensive flow in order to get his. He was notorious for bringing the ball up the court and launching a three before anyone else even touched the ball. I think it’s flat out terrible for a 6’9” guy who averaged 16.5 shots per game on his career only shot 41% and during two of his 20 point seasons he shot 39%.

Ebown5ParticipantI think that Antoine Walker as a comparison is pretty good. People forget that Walker had the talent of a big time superstar. He was just a lazy knucklehead who fell in love with the 3 point shot.
If he had been willing to mix it up on the block more he would have been a mucho better player. As a Sixers fan I remember quite well how difficult he was to handle on defense and was thankful that he would jack up all of those threes.
jabari has a better floor game and a muh better motor.

aaucoachParticipantmost of these dudes are way too young to understand the walkler comparison.walker was a beast before he turned into the 3 point chuck machine that he was in his last few years.but either way, jabari is a much more fluid athlete than walker is and unlike walker, jabari had a great mid range game

princejamesParticipantJabari Parker has a versatile skill set that is very similar to the all-around skill set that Antoine Walker possessed. I’ve actually made that comparison in one of my past post. Jabari Parker in my opinion might potentially end up being better than Antoine Walker, because Jabari has an higher basketball I.Q., has better decision making skills, is a more unselfish play-maker, and has the ability to consistently make the simple and needed play.
Best Case Scenario Comparison : A mix between Carmello Anthony and Grant Hill
Worst Case Scenario Comparison: Antoine Walker with better decision making skills0 - Posted on: Thu, 12/26/2013 - 1:11pm #859079

JoeWolf1I don’t really see the Grant Hill element of the Jabari comparisons. Hill was a constant triple double threat and point forward style player who wasn’t much of an outside shooter. Hill was also a superior athlete who was a very capable defender. I don’t see much of Grant Hill in Parker.
I see a guy who plays very similar to Melo during his freshman year at Syracuse. A skilled SF/PF combo with great ball handling, and advanced moves. A capable college defender, but a guy with a few questions as to how his D will translate, but a guy who looks to be a 20 + ppg scorer very quickly into his NBA career.
