    Kobe
Enters the League as a high flying dunker (Won the dunk competition his rookie year)
Holds the record for most 3-pointers in a single game (12)

    J.R. Smith
Recognized as a great dunker ( lost in dunk competition)
Dropped 41 points off the bench this year (*Not sure how many 3’s he hit might have been 10)

Now im not saying J.R. Smith is the next Kobe Bryant but it is funny how his development out of high school has somewhat mirrored Kobe’s

    What do yall think

not really. Kobe never relied on his 3 pointer as much as Smith. Smith is a good athlete, but unless he is on the break or has a wide open lane, he really doesn’t have the skills to show off that athleticism. Kobe was a 20 ppg all-star by his third year who had a lot of all around skills already.

The Denver Nuggets are my team and I think you’re crazy. Smith is probably of the top 10 scorers in the league, but that’s as good as it gets. He doesn’t play defense and his shooting had taken a big step back this year, his fifth season, I think. Anyway, he’s very dangerous and streaky in the Nick Van Exel mold. And he not only had a 40 pt game this year, but three off the bench last year, which was tops in the NBA last season for reserve players. Now, Smith overall is a good player, when he’s under control. But when he plays feral and undisicplined, it can be a nightmare……Fair and balanced criticsm from a J.R. Smith fan.

IDK about JR being a top 10 scorer. He is one of my favorite player and real exciting on the floor but top 10 is pretty tight company.

He has to beat out (no order)

      Kobe
      LBJ
      Wade
      Melo
      Durant
      Ellis
      Roy
      Nowitzki
      Arenas
      Johnson
      Evans
      Mayo
      Gay
      Pierce

I used to think JR Smith was gonna develop into a VC/Kobe type player, but he is too streaky. He is an awesome shooter and athlete , but nothing really more. He is perfect in his role and that is a 6th man who provides instant offense. At this stage in Kobe’s career he was already a champion and one of the most well rounded players in the league. JR Smith is not at all, but he is still one of my favorite players

Tezo……Lawson is one heck of a player. I’m very impressed. My problem with him is his size. He looks so little on the court. So does, Jonny Flynn. But Lawson has been a major role in more than a few games.

Also, Smith is better than advertised. He just settles for the 3-point shot too much. He doesn’t need to because he can’t get to the basket at will.

jr smith has ( or had) potential to become all-star and one of the best scorers in nba but his problem is mental… i mean he has jump shot, atlecism but year after year he cannot step up and bring his game to next level… hes 25 so a think that he will never become player that he could become and he needs to settle as 6th man in some team

The things that are holding him back are ball-handling and defense. JR Smith is one of top 5 favorite players too, Im a big fan honestly. He’s a great athlete and very quick, but he’s a below average ball-handler and he can’t really get to the rim very well in half-court (ie. the reason he shoots so many jumpers). I remember he got stripped like 3 different times during a game against the Lakers this season. I’ve personally never seen something like that happen to an NBA player to many times in one game. He’s a great shooter so that bails him out most times.

He played good defense in the playoffs last season, but he’s reverted back to his old ways on that end this season…He is a bad on ball defender most times, but he does makes some plays off the ball every now and then because he’s so athletic.

Kobe….no. But I do see some Mitch Richmond in him.

He needs to be more consistent and a lot better on D to be anywhere near as good as Kobe.
