"Just give me a training camp," he said. "Maybe I’ve rubbed people the wrong way as far as saying the things I’ve said in my life and in my career. But if any team needs me to help try and win a championship in any capacity, I’m waiting."
I believe there will be a team that will take a chance on him, either one with strong personalities such as Kobe, Fisher, and Artest or a scrub team that wants to sell some tickets to see what all the fuss is about.

IndianaBasketballParticipantHe had a great career and it’s a shame it ended the way it did, but I don’t think any team will take a chance on him.
He’s done and needs to start focusing on life after basketball.

JoeWolf1Yeah, I can’t see anyone rolling the dice on Iverson at this point of his career.

omphalosParticipantWell, the Heat are starting Mike Bibby right now, it’s not impossible to imagine them taking a chance and offering him a small contract to play for them. He wouldn’t have to be the playmaker with Lebron there and it would be his chance to finally get a ring. New York is another possibility; he would be great coming off the bench and they are in win-now mode, but could use some extra scoring.
Wherever he goes it will be for very little money, but I can see a couple of teams on the brink needing his experience and scoring taking a chance on AI.

JoeWolf1Yeah, but I don’t know how you could equate a 36 year old former star with alcohol, gambling and personal issues who’s been playing overseas to be a good fit in a win-now scenario.
I understand a lot of people huge fans of his and that he had a great NBA career, but he dug his own grave on this one. His ego in Memphis, and personal and alcohol issues in Philly, I don’t think teams will see him is a good influence on young players, good for team chemsitry and I think that trumps any gas he may have left in the tank to play with.
I hate to say it, but its true, but at this point in Iverson’s career T.J. Ford, Sebastian Telfair, Earl Watson, and Shannon Brown are all better free agent point guards on the market.

mikeyvthedonParticipantIverson with the Heat seems like a really bad idea. They would be even more predictable and easy to prevent. Allen Iverson is probably still a 20 ppg player, but it will be at the cost of winning basketball games. He has been totally unwilling to compromise the way he plays, and the last few stops were honestly ugly. The guy definitely needs to buy into a system where he will either come off of the bench or takes a more minor role, and as we have seen in Detroit, Memphis and than his return to Philly, it did not work well. I could see him coming back, but I think any team that takes him on does so knowing they more than likely are not getting the missing ingredient to a title. Honestly, would be great to see him win one, but he HAS to compromise and that might not be easy.

The Scare Crow ReturnsParticipantNot now, not ever, this is the chance AI needs to redeem himself, every deserves a second chance, hell some of us need 3rd, 4th and 5th chances, its never over til its over…let’s see if it really is over…As a long time Sixers die hard with first hand knowledge of AI’s impact good, bad or ugly, he’s not done yet, he can change and I still believe in him

IndianaBasketballParticipantI wouldn’t take a chance on Iverson due to his baggage AND the fact I just don’t think he can do it physically anymore.
His game was always built on speed and quickness, and I think he’s lost a few steps. He was never strong. He’s always hurt now, due to being so banged up during his superstar days and then not taking care of his body during the later parts of his career.
Then throw in the fact, he needs the ball in his hands to be effective… And he’s not a defender. He was never efficient. I just think it’s all over for him.
I believe in second chances, but I think Iverson already got his and he did nothing with it.

Lotto StudParticipantIverson is 35 now. I would like to know who will take on a guy who is known as a chucker? It’s not like he is going to come in and be that facilitator you need, because he HAS to get his by all means. He may be a good vet on your team to mentor a younger guy, but who is going to take him on after what he took Memphis through all because he did not want to come off the bench?

PlatypusParticipantMiami should look at him for some clutch scoring in the 4th quarter

BKKnicksfanParticipantI wouldn’t be mad if the Knicks took him for a season. I think he might actually be alright opposite Douglas, because Douglas can play some defense.

aamir543ParticipantI cant think of a team. The Lakers are old and slow, and although Iverson may be a slight upgrade, he is not going to put them over the top. I thought that Iverson should have called Lebron last year, and signed with the Cavs, even though they had a decent point in Mo, they could have used some extra firepower. The only team that needs a one or a two, is chicago, and i dont think they want a chucker to take shots from D Rose. He will probably have to do what T Mac did last year, and sign with a lottery team. I just thought of somthing, what if, Cleveland passes on Irving, Minny takes Irving, and then Kahn signs Iverson, there is probably a 0.000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001 chance of that happening, but with David Kahn, you never know. The postgame scene in the locker room is worth its own reality TV show. Iring, the future of the franchise, Fynn, the former future, Rubio, a spanish con man who conned everyone into thinking he is the next John Stockton,(Even poor No Money has fallen under his wrath)and the oen the only Allen Iverson. I can think of a possible event that could take place during the season…
(Iverson does not show up to practice, and Rubio and Iverson meet the next day before a game)
Rubio-(Add your own hip hop spanish accent) Hey man, you no show up practice day before today?
Iverson-Dude! We talkin bout practice! Not a game, we talkin about Practice!
Rubio-Ah… si, si, we are talking about the practice, what do you mean?
Iverson-Bru, you need to educate yo self, I thought all yall were doctors like Pau
Rubio- Me no doctor, me basketball player.
Iverson-Get rid of that accent boy, drivin me (expletive) crazy.
Irving-Easy on the kid, the season has barely even started, he’ll learn eventually.
Iverson-Well if it aint the white boy from the white school, get lost, and remember, pass me the ball I am goin for 50 today
Flynn-(Laughing) When was the last time you got 30?
Iverson-Thats it! You dead boy!
(Iverson charges at Flynn, and takcles him to the floor, Rubio and Irving try to hold him back, but he throws puncches at them too, and Rubio, breaks his nose, and Flynn and Irving get black eyes. When media asks him aobut it, he stirs up an international crisis, when he says Rubio got hurt because all spniards are soft. He then gets suspended for 20 games, gets released by the T Wolves, and never plays in the NBA ever again.)

doubledribblerParticipantSeems like he wants to go to a contender, but what contender would want him or even need him? His game was built on his quickness and even in his best years he didn’t play well with others. I could name countless guys that did not play well with him, but played much better before or after playing with Iverson. Iverson was amazing at his best, but he’s not going to be good enough to carry a team now and he has not proven to be a team player and that’s before we get into all his personal baggage. A guy like Juwan Howard was never as talented as Iverson, but he can hang around in the league because he has accepted that he is a role player and has done everything that is asked to fill the role the team wants him to play. He gave Portland a lot of good minutes this year and has been effective in limited minutes for Miami.
Sadly I think he’s coming back for the money. I would not be surprised if he signed with a team like the T Wolves. Iverson isn’t a huge draw, but if he can have a flashback moment here or there he could help with the crowds especially if you only sign him to a minimum deal.
