OhCanada-ParticipantIt seems every ranking has him at around 3rd for 2017 recruits but Im finding it hard to rank him Top 5 as far as pro potential goes. I also think Duke teammate Gary Trent Jr. has more pro potential. Is he legit or just beasting the HS level.
Kind of reminds me of a more well rounded Julius Randle which is a compliment in my mind but not gonna give you a spot in top 5 with this deep class. Seems to have a decent mid range game, decent athlete although lacks an explosive burst or quick twitch athletisism, good size/height/length, vvery strong, smart basketball player, obviously dominated HS, but does his game translate to NCAA or the pros?

BleedingBlueParticipantI’m under the impression that all the rankings are based on projected college production as opposed to NBA potential. Hence the name recruiting rankings.
With that said, I think Wendell Carter is one of the most sure-fire prospects in recent years. He already has a NBA-ready body to going along with sound fundamentals and above average athleticism. And judging by his high school tapes and the 15-20 minutes long video from the McDonald’s All American practice, he seems to be the only one that has any pro-level post moves. I’m expecting him to average 15/10/2 during his lone year at Duke and be a 2nd/3rd option on a solid team in the NBA.

OhCanada-ParticipantWhat do you think about Gary Trent Jr. and who do you think is better? I think he is one of the best pure SG recruits in recent memory. Floor is OJ Mayo but cieling is Brandon Roy.

sweaterflexParticipantCarter seems like he will be an elite college player and merely a good pro, but he could be an Al Horford type at the next level if his jump shot keeps developing. It will be interesting to see if he or his polar opposite Robert Williams will go higher in next year’s draft.

HitsterParticipantHe reminds me a bit of Jahlil Okafor but with some sort of defensive game, I wonder if he might be the same sort of half court low post type playet. He may lack mobility but he looks as if he has a good wingspan and with his bulk could become a decent defensive player.
He is apparently a high character guy who will learn hugely from a year at Duke, also for a guy his size he has a decent touch and will do what is expected of him and be a good team player.
If that is worth a top 5 pick I don’t know.

Taylor Gang MikeParticipantYes he is overrated,. I just dont see it. He has that Elton Brand type game, with a handle. Another Duke forward that will under acheive. Lance Thomas, Josh Hairston, Amile Jefferson, Ryan Kelly, Chase Jeter the list goes on…..

vernonbrown1ParticipantJahlil Oakafor probably will be fantastic in college’s slow tempo games but struggle in the pros due to the speed of the game his defense is aight at best celling is Paul Millsap

barbabodomParticipantIt would be so cool and a good example if he went to Harvard. He would be a Top5 pick no matter what and would set the bar higher to other kids.
