kdh93ParticipantI posted this in another discussion but I just want to know if anyone thinks this is even workable and who else likes the idea.
I know that a lot of people wont agree with me on this but I am deffinetly not sold on kanter. not many people have seen him play and since he was ruled ineeligeble that makes me question his maturity. what i think the jazz should do is try and drop miles and possibly raja along with the 12 pick to the wolves and get one of the contracts they want to give upand move up to the number 2 and 3 since the wolves want to get lower than where they are at. now if the jazz do this it gives them a great small forward with williams to put into the starting linup once he becomes acoustom to the system and will put milsap back to where he is comfortable. then at the 3 you still take knight and same sittuation occurs at the pg possisition and if knight (6’3) does move into the starting lineup and the jazz move hayward (6’8) to the sg that gives you one of the bigger lineups in the league and a lethal bench with harris milsap and evans and even keep fesinko just to use as an expendable wall. that to me seems like a much more competitive team and is not out of the relm of possiblity imo.

JoeWolf1It’s gonna take a lot more than Raja Bell, Miles and 12 to get the #2 pick.
Minnesota isn’t going to give up the pick for nothing, which is what you are offering. Steve Nash, Pau Gasol, Roy Hibbert, are guys being rumored for the #2, a couple of average caliber shooting guards aren’t going to cut it.

kdh93ParticipantWhat about Paul he could be a vewery useful addition to the wolves yes I would hate to see him go but if it improves the team for the long run it may be worth it. I mean he had a 7% higher fg rate 5% ft and 9% from the 3 than Hibbert he is younger than nash and could stay with them longer and again they from what I have read the wolves want to move to somwhere around 14-15 so that takes the lakers out of it. does that seem more likely and do you think it is worth it any input is apreciated I am working on finishing a paper for my sports marketing class that is due today so thanks.

Jazz_ItalyParticipantno one really sane can shop good players for some pick in this draft
if i was a GM i will shop for 2012 picks
just the oldest players can be shopped for pick 2° this year, suns already denied rumors about nash and gortat, like lakers done with rumors about gasol or bynum
this draft picks have no a higher value

jonus grumbyParticipantagree with the big guy from Carolina. NBA teams need starts. Minn is not going to trade the #2 pick for mid level talent + a mid 1st rd pick.

SwatLakeCityParticipantYou may not be sold on Kanter but he does not have maturity issues. You need to look up why he was ruled ineligible. It wasn’t because of some drug problems or whatever you think it was. It was simply because he was offered money to play for Kentucky from Turkey. That is not allowed in the NCAA. The thing is, Kanter himself did not even know about the money Turkey offered Kentucky just so they could get Kanter.
Now, because he was ruled ineligible and hasn’t played for over a year, he may be a bit rusty, which is part of the reason why I don’t want the Jazz drafting him. I really want Favors to start next year at PF, and Millsap moved back to the bench where he can be that 6th man, once again averaging double double’s and playing much better defensively. He has a tough time starting because he is so undersized for a 4. When he starts he has to go up against 6’10 developed starting PF’s night and night out. That’s alot to ask for a 4 who is only 6’7. But if he’s a backup he doesn’t have to do that, and would go against much lesser competition night in and night out. This is the reason why he did much better as backup to Boozer then he did as a starter along with Jefferson this year. Drafting Kanter would mean that he would probably start along side Jefferson. Both Jefferson and Kanter are two big men that are ideal for the 4 but are playing the 5. Therefore they are not as good defensively at the 5. Since I really want to see Favors starting next year, drafting Kanter would mean that Utah would have to trade Jefferson. (I don’t think he’ll want to be a backup). If they trade Jefferson then someone would have to make up for the loss. Do you really Favors, a guy who is still learning and somewhat raw himself would make up the loss of Jefferson. I sure don’t. It would be way too much to ask and consquently would underperform. Let’s try Kanter. Do you think Kanter who hasn’t played basketball for over year could make up for the loss of Jefferson. I don’t. That would be an insane responsibility for someone who is probably still a bit rusty since he hasn’t played for over a year.
So, yes I too am not sold on Kanter but not because of maturity issues but because he may still be rusty since he hasn’t played basketball for over a year.

bloodshyParticipantBell has one foot in the grave. He is a liability–not a tradeable asset. CJ is a quality, yet inconsistent, young player that the Jazz are losing patience with. His trade value is low. To unload Bell at all, the Jazz would have to include someone of CJ’s caliber just to get him off the books. The only tradeable assets the Jazz have are Milsap, Jefferson, and to a lesser extent, Harris & Miles. Favors and Hayward are untoucheable. Hayward (after 1 season) looks as good as any athlete in the current draft. And Favors would easily be the #1 pick if he were in this draft.
As a result, there is no possible trade to be made to move from 3 to 2 without giving up draft picks. None of our tradeable assets are good fits in Minnesota at all. A more likely scenario would be picking Kanter @3 and then trading Big Al or Milsap to Indiana for 2 first round picks. Al is exactly what the Pacers need and they’d give reasonable value for him.
