valentineman the NBA looks bad right now you have like 2 real contenders right now in GSW and the Spurs, Cavs will be once kyrie comes back.. But just look at the teams records, its bad.. People don’t notice this yet, but this is part of the reason why GSW is 22-0 right now. I hope teams start to gel soon cause the NFL is much more interesting right now and this is also a bad year for the NFL IMO..

Ahkasi ClayParticipantI love the storylines,
the warriors are Must watch
return of the east
we have 3 great rookies so far, and many more that look like they might have some great years ahead.
the fact that 2/3 of the worst teams in the league must/probably have to give up their draft picks.
etc..
I am loving this year!

JMoney31ParticipantAre you complaining because the league has a tighter race then in years past? In the east 1 and 10 are seperated by 2 games, and the west has 3 and 8 seperated by 2.5 games, and even 12th is only 4.5 games back. Ouside of Golden State and the Spurs, everyone is close. Great start.

PulseGlazerParticipantThis is my favorite year in ages. Between great teams, superstar players, intriguing rookies, closeness in records… Amazing.

negguaryParticipantThis year is actually looking like it will pan out to have an exciting year with how slow it is right now you know that it will lead up to a great race in the end. With all the slow starts it will likely result in a busy trade deadline again. Very intriguing will the Thunder start gelling? Are the spurs creating the formula to beat GSW? Cavs vs Heat ECF? Will the clippers gel or sell? Come on its too much going on not to be intrigued. Porzingus in the playoffs? The list goes on.

Malik-UniversalParticipanti was watching the pistons game vs the lakers 2 days ago and they brought up a graphic were if the pistons were in the west they wouldve had a 5th seed.. but in the east i think we had a 9th seed.. goes to show u the league is getting better and better

MatosParticipantGreat year actually. Return of PG and KD. Steph and Bron’s teams still atop. Spurs are the Spurs. Westbrook is a freak. Entertaining games.

Memphis MadnessParticipantIt’s a STRANGE year.
I mean you have a team that is 22-0. They even look like they have a shot at winning 33 straight. With 4 wins at the end of last year and 22 this year, then the Cavs game on Christmas looms large — if the Warriors can beat the Cavs then they can tie the record.
The Spurs are looking great too, just beating Philly by 51. The Spurs are actually on pace for 67 wins right now.
The year is NOT good if you are a Lakers fan, someone who thought Anthony Davis would take another step up this year, and for Cleveland fans. I can easily see the Cavs losing 4-1 or something in the Finals this year — if they can beat some of those younger teams in the East.
The Thunder Dynasty That Never Happened is running out of time. A second tier team.
LOVE the rookies. Okafor is putting up stats and Towns is playing well too. Porzingas looks like the ROY front runner right now. He also looks like an ALL STAR. Why shouldn’t he be one of the starting Eastern Conference front court players in the All Star Game along with LeBron and Paul George? Should be between Porzingas, Drummond, and Whiteside, and I can see KP having more fans.
There’s a great mix of talent right now. A great mix of TRULY GREAT teams, and a BUNCH of teams in the middle. The ONLY teams that are really, really out of it right now are the Lakers, Sixers, and Nets — with the Lakers still being a decent ticket for the Kobe Retirement Tour.
You also have to like the Ben Simmons Watch. Who knows about the rest of the draft, but Ben Simmons is clearly a talent and fun to watch. So, even bad teams have something to look forward too. Well, unless you are the Nets.
Looks like a classic top heavy year like 1992-1993 where you had Jordan’s quest for a 3 peat, Charles Barkley in Phoenix, and Shaq destroying backboards as a rookie. Or, 1996 where the Bulls were winning 72 games, with the Magic and Sonics having young, exciting, high energy, talented rosters.
This is a year where your team knows where it is. Either you are at the top, at the bottom, or somewhere in the middle. Hopefully, you are a middling team that is young and getting BETTER as opposed to old and not getting much better. This appears to be where the Grizzlies and Clippers are right now. The top two contenders for the Intercontinental Championship belt of the NBA.

markfitz14ParticipantAs a Celtics Fan- I really like watching the team and how its coached. I think they play sound defense and have excellent set plays. I enjoy wathing the guys who are developing still. Then I get to root against the Nets, hoping for a top draft pick. I see possibille bright things in the future with that pick. I am hoping to win a playoff series this year.
As an NBA Fan- Love looking at the rookies, Porzingous the most just because I am personally a fan of his game. Hoping GSW lose becuase I don’t want them to beat the 72 win record. Im a Lebron fan so I want GSW to lose lol. I see an up and down year for the Cavs so far but they are going to figure it out and dominat soon. I can’t wait.
I actually Predict the NBA will make more money this year than they ever have. The NBA is so much fun right now. Tons of reasons to watch.
It is the most entertaining sport out there in my opinion. NFL is tied for first though lol.

markfitz14ParticipantHow could I forget! The biggest story is……can Lebron one of the prbly top 5 players of all time bring Cleveland its first NBA Championship. My Fiance is from Cleve and we go there often. The city is starved for a championship. They want to win with Lebron so bad. The Love Lebron so much its crazy. They worship him. If Lebron can do it I think it will be one of the most amazing NBA championships of all time. I hope The CAVS can pull it off.

Memphis MadnessParticipantThe NBA Final Four could come down to the 4 most dominant franchises of the past 10-15 years: the Warriors, Spurs, Cavs, and Heat.
other than the Lakers, no other teams have won too much over that time frame.
on either side, the 3-6 and 4-5 match ups should be toss ups, even though the top couple of teams are at the top (clearly).

MatosParticipantNot to be a downer on your post, but you cant say the 4 most dominant franchises of the past 10-15 years and then say other than the Lakers. Lakers won 5 rings in that stretch. Thats 33-50% of the rings.

ok. True. For the past few years though, GS, Spurs, and Miami have done all the winning with Cleveland getting to some Finals.
Even going back 10 or 15 years, the Heat and Spurs have done well for themselves, and the Cavs have been a factor for parts of the past decade.
The Cavs and Heat have combined for 7 EC titles since LeBron and D Wade showed up, including the last 5.
The Spurs are a long-range dynasty going back years and the Warriors are the defending champs.
The LA Lakers haven’t been to the Finals since 2010. The Lakers have only two rings since LeBron and D Wade showed up.

Hype MachineContenders – Golden State, Cleveland
Pretenders – Heat, Bulls, Pacers, Celtics, Spurs, Thunder, Clippers,
NBA Limbo – Mavs, Grizz, Rockets, Jazz, Suns, Blazers, Nuggets, Pelicans, Kings, Hornets, Raps, Hawks, Wiz, Knicks, Bucks, Nets, Pistons, Magic
Active Rebuilders – Lakers, Timberwolves, 76ers,
Analysis
Only fans of 2 teams have genuine championship hope. That’s a very low number.
Every fan says they dont want to be in NBA Limbo. Not contending, and not getting high draft picks either. There’s a record 18 teams in NBA limbo right now. Over half the league has nothing to get excited about.
The Rookie class is about average. Not great, not terrible. Just in the middle.
Final Grade
C+
The Warriors are exciting to watch, and draw in casual fans. But who wants to watch a movie when you already know how it ends? Least number of contenders since the Jordan Era and a ho-hum rookie class, led by Kristaps Porzingas, means this season has been average that far.
