rtbtParticipantI’ve been reading a lot of negative comments about what’s going on behind the scenes in Miami. Those of you who know me, realize how much emphasis I place upon team chemistry. I’m going to post two different quotes I read on another site and solicit your opinons.
The first quote from Yahoo Sports is about Dwayne Wade, who is not only an elite talent, but a first class guy in every respect. The second quote will be in my next post and that one talks about how spoiled LeBron James appears to be.
Those who know Wade well, who care about him, were disappointed Monday. When Spoelstra needed Wade to stand up for him, Wade never shrunk so small. Spoelstra was Wade’s guy, but Wade’s finding it much easier to align himself with James’ coward act than do the right thing. This was something that you’d expect out of Chris Bosh, who’s never been a leader, never a winner, but Wade?
"He knows better than this," one of Wade’s former assistant coaches said. "I’m not saying he hasn’t changed some, but he knows right from wrong. And this is wrong." – Yahoo Sports

rtbtParticipantThe Heat have already used their position of power. They didn’t hire a James associate who had a job and traveled with the Cavs. As the team constructed it’s schedule, it hasn’t succumbed to James’ preferences as the Cavaliers did. But those are largely behind the scenes machinations discussed only in entourage circles [yes they exist]. – ESPN
Whether you believe ESPN Magazine’s Chris Broussard’s report that several Heat players, particularly James, have grown frustrated with coach Erik Spoelstra, doesn’t really matter. James complained about playing too many minutes, which required a meeting with Spoelstra. He doesn’t like playing PG, which Spoelstra asked him to do for much of the young season. And he maintained that unlike past seasons, he isn’t having fun.

IndianaBasketballParticipantWe should stop talking about the Heat so much. They’re an average ball club. All they do is beat up on below .500 teams. Only ONE win vs a winning team.
Let’s talk about the Spurs who are tearing up the league. Let’s talk about the Jazz or the Hornets. The Lakers. The Magic, where Dwight Howard looks much improved on offense and has them competing with the Celtics for the best team in the East.
The Heat get too much attention, considering they’re just an average team.

NYK2010ParticipantObviusly they aren’t having fun with all the losing.
They really need a PG, since Arroyo n Chalmers aren’t getting it done.
30th in turnovers wow thats terrible.

MelParticipantYeah, I’m kind of sick of all this Miami talk. LeBron this LeBron that. He is the Brett Favre of basketball as far as the media attention goes.
LBJ wants to have fun? He’s buggin. When he signed with Miami, he knew the scrutiny and the microscope he would be under. He got what he asked for. This isn’t like Boston a few years ago, they had a decent PG who turned great and a decent center to add to the big 3.
Miami has Arroyo, who in my opinion, is the worst starting PG in the NBA.
I saw when Wade said, Spo isnt his guy, he is his coach. I was thinking whoa, where did that come from. Before the season, all you heard about was how Wade went to bat for Spo and how close they were. This game is dirty lol. It definitely seems like they are trying to get this guy fired.

rtbtParticipantWow! You guys are pretty hard on Carlos Arroyo. Although I agree that he isn’t a top flight guard, he’s not as bad you guys paint him. The bigger problem is the fact that he really doesn’t play PG. Once Arroyo crosses mid-court with the ball, he defers to LBJ and simply hands him the rock.
Miami needs a PG who will control and run the team. However, when you spend all of your money on three players, there’s no money available for a quality PG.

IndianaBasketballParticipantCarlos Arroyo hasn’t been great, especially on the defensive end, but is in a tough spot lol. He played well last season, but looks confused this season. He doesn’t handle the ball. He’s basically a stand still shooter. Problem is, that’s not really his game. He’s not a consistent knock down jump shooter. He’s basically just out there doing nothing right now. The Heat are playing four on five.
He’s a solid player… Just not a good fit for this team.

llperezits funny to me people are pointing fingers at arroyo. What did they think he was? Hes always been an mediocre pg who you do not want as a starter. Spot up shooting has never been his strength although he is actually doing a decent job knocking down threes this year. If you want to blame arroyo for the struggles, then you probably should have been predicting them to struggle all along since arroyo is being arroyo.

rtbtParticipantIndiana, I agree that Arroyo isn’t a good fit in Miami, but he’s better than most give him credit for. However, as I pointed out earlier in this thread, Arroyo’s not playing as a PG. He’s simply deferring to LBJ, as soon as Arroyo crosses mid-court, he gives the ball to L. James and as you pointed out, spots up as a shooter.
That isn’t working. Miami needs a strong PG to run the show, but when you allocate all of your money to three players, I guess you don’t have enough left to attract a quality PG.
