    Quick run down:

    Tai Webster | 6’4" | Nebraska | PG/SG | 20 year old Senior

Current stats in 27 minutes, 10 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 50% from the field and 41% from the 3 on 1.7 attempts per game. Good rebounding guard, poor free throw shooter, good inside scorer.

I don’t know that much about Webster but I hear he has a lot of pontential and talent that could make him a second round prospect either this year or next.

What are your thoughts on Tai?

Maybe I’m bias because like Tai I am from NZ.

I want to be biased (New Zealander) but No he isn’t at the moment. Not a chance this year, those stats aren’t special at all.

    1.8:2.1 assist to turnover ratio

77.4% on FT isn’t poor though. He is going to have to take on a bigger role next year if he wants to get noticed.

As an Aussie neighbour, I’m always cheering for my Kiwi brothers to make it to the league. Unfortunately I don’t think Tai Webster is at that level at this stage. The other Tai from NZ though…

Tai Wynyard is gonna be really good I reckon. He’s a beast. I watched him play in some junior competition and damn he’s big and strong! From memory is dad is a world champion wood chopper, so you know he’s got good genes!

He joined Kentucky a few weeks ago and I read that he’s been strong in practice. Looking forward to seeing how he goes… which might still be this season!

    Sweet es!

I hope he transfers because there are so many highly recruited bigmen coming to kentucky to gobble up all his minutes.

He’s at the wrong school if he isn’t an NBA prospect, for the reason listed above.

He could still have a good NBL career if he develops his game at a school where he can get some minutes….which is nothing to sneeze at (since it’s a better job than the rest of us have).

Although to be fair, no-one has seen him play enough to accurately assess his talent. All I’ve heard is stories of him dominating Casey Frank’s kids in U15 competitions….and hype about his dad being a boss at woodchopping.

He could be the next Kentucky lottery bigman for all we know. Just in case he’s not….he better keep his axe sharp.

I have seen him play quite a few times and he is big, strong also has great feet in the post with a nice touch.

What will let him down IMO is his lack of length and he isn’t very athletic. The NBA seems to be getting faster and faster, maybe Kentucky can get him into a training program that improves his athleticism and makes him a better prospect, but ultimately if he makes the league I see him having a role like a LaVoy Allen at best, being a big man off the bench (Allen is a 3rd string big on a good team, he is getting minutes due to Indiana’s lack of depth) who plays in blow outs and when there is foul trouble for other bigs.

A life in the NBA is hard and I hope he makes it, even being a guy who comes into practice as the 14th-15th man on the squad would be a dream i’m sure none of us would turn down.
