and Wichita state? And who would be the northeast version of a consistent high mid major program? Also is it just me or does sfa really need a new league I think they’ve outgrown the south land

SFA will go back down to earth after Brad Underwood leaves.

Not one of those teams you mentioned is on the same level as Gonzaga. Back to back sweet 16 probably back to back elite 8s. 18 straight appearances in the NCAA tournaments. Several 1st round picks and second round picks who had staying power. A coach that could have almost any job he want. Certainly on the west coast and isn’t going anywhere. He will retire a zag.

Yah neither team is on par with Gonzaga at least from a recruiting/transfering perspective. Even this year they have another guy I think will eventually develop into a 1st round prospect Killian Tilley.

They have graduated from the mid-majors.

Every Mid-major program that puts together a 2 or 3 year run gets the "is this team the next Gonzaga"

I remember when Courtney Lee was at Western Kentucky and they made the Sweet 16 and people thought that program had a chance.

If this questions would’ve had "Wichita State" instead of SFA, I’d have been more interested.

That is one that fascinates me because if Greg Marshall is there, they’ve got a chance to be that program. They’ve been to the tournament the last four years, they are starting to generate recruiting traction and they’ve become something of a factor in the transfer market. The question will be how much of that was VanVleet and Baker?

I think if there’s a mid-major that has a chance to be Gonzaga 2.0, it’s Wichita. And the interesting thing there, is that the origin of that rise — looking back on this if it comes to fruition — was when they beat the Zags in the second round of the tourney in 2013 on their way to that Final 4.
