Rondo is a beast. He’s a better on ball defender than Paul and Williams. He’s probably a better rebounder too. Playmaking ability… He’s close to those two. The only thing he doesn’t have that they have is the offensive game. He can score when he has to, but his lack of a jumpshot and free-throw shooting is what prevents him from being in that discussion.

Even if you assume Rondo is the number three US point guard (you could put Rose in front of him) it would be very difficult to start a point with that weak of a jump shot although his has improved.

i don’t think his game would do well in the olympics. Every guy on the court will be able to handle the rock and create their own shots, so it’s not like you need a pg to dribble the rock and create offense. And once you take the ball out of rondo’s hands, his ability to hit the spot up shot would be a huge negative for team usa. If richard jefferson proved anything in 2004, it’s that everyone must be able to make the opponent pay for leaving someone open.

Oh yeah, and rondo is not even on the 27 man roster for the 2012 olympics, so im gonna go out on a limb and guess he is not a lock.

^ Um sorry, Rose does a lot more than score. He is also dropping 6 assists a game without the likes of Allen, Pierce, and KG to dish to. Rose is being asked to be the leader of a team at 21, Rondo is surrounded by leaders.

Jason Kidd never had really god jumshot…and he is a future Hof…I believe that rondo can be that type of pg(more athletic)… he is better defender that cp3 and d-will,in playmaking ability hes close to them,when he develop jumshot he can be in talk of who is the best pg in league… in year or two

He could be as good as Williams and Paul IF he improves his jumpshot. That’s a huge if, because as of right now, halfway through his fourth season in the league, he has made a career total of 39 3-pointers. His shot is pretty awful right now and I think that it will continue to hold him back from joining Paul and Williams as the best point guards in the league.

Rajon rondo cant be your #1 and you win he has the ability to be a really good pg not a great pg and just because he can avg a almost triple double which i think has to be one of the most overrated stats ever,he does this on a team with three locked hof and i understand they are not playin well but teams still have to game plan for them because if one of the three gets it going thats it leaving rondo being guarded by someone who is slower with less talent and cant be put in to the top 3 in pgs

rondo’s game is perfect for the olympics. yeah every guy can handle the ball but they could in the past as well yet they had kidd and paul and williams handle the ball most of the times. you need a pg like that against the different defenses that the euros are able to use. and ya’ll keep putting rose ahead of rondo …how so?..he scores more thats it so he must be better right?..its og not shooting guard. rose has to score more but rondo is a better defender passer, better at steals and rebounds so please tell me how he’s better then rondo?

you put rose ahead of rondo because of the impact he has on the court rondo is only avg 1 more reb and gets his stills in passing lanes hes an ok on ball defender cant guard anyone bigger or faster then him he cant shoot he is avg 3 more asst but look who he plays with there is no reason why he shouldnt be avg 9+ asst but on the other hand rose is a better scorer better play maker and makes his team better rondos team makes him better rose has the it factor to be one of the best pgs ever for rondo if they break up his foundation this is the best u will ever see from rondo because he cant take over games

rondo is guy that can be effective even without scoring… and i think he would be better at olympics cause you need pas first pg.. rose is a scorer… i dont know how he would fit in lineup with wade,james,anthony,howard/bosh…they all are scorers
