Some fans are still upset at Pistons GM Joe Dumars for trading away Billups..
The heart & soul of the team..Since Billups left the Pistons have became mediocre..
But 1 reason Dumars made the trade was he saw something special in Rodney Stuckey…
Some say Stuckey could be a poor man’s version of Wade..
But the Pistons have him playing out of position..
Stuckey have the talent to be 1 of the 5 best shooting guards in the league..
And being forced to run the point and create plays for teammates have held back his game..
Stuckey is tough to guard off the dribble..
He doesn’t have great shooting mechanics he’s averaged 41% for his career..
But he’s an outstanding scorer..And shoot 83% from the free throw line last season…
Playing with a pass 1st point guard would enhance his game..

Yeah Stuckey isnt a point guard at all, he’s a shooting guard. I think that moving Stuckey to the 2 guard position would really help his game and he really is limited playing the point guard position.

    I’m going one step further.

Stuckey is a good player but I don’t think he’s a starter. He has some combo guard skills and I believe he’s a better 6th man.

Yeah I do too. I don’t think any team with Stuckey as their starting PG is going to be a great team. With the right players around him he can be PG for a playoff team, but to me if you put him in a similar situation as the one Jamal Crawford was in last year, you’d be giving him and the team he plays for the best chance at success.

He needs to be a better shooter to be able to play the 2

stuckey is not great, but he is very solid and the best player on detroit. Im not sure if he would benefit from moving to the sg spot or not. He is best with the ball in his hands and his jumper is broke so coming off screens is out the question. You just have to give him the rock and let him do his thing. Hes not a typical point obviously, but he is not the reason for detroit struggling.

He is a under developed gaurd in general. He makes plays, but makes mistakes because he honestly doesn’t know. C.Bill was traded 1 yr too early(Denver thinks otherwise) He could have helped Stuckey become a better gaurd all around by picking his brain, watching him in practice and in games, playing on the floor with him. Can he score, yea he had a few 40+ games last season, and he is a above average passer, but he doesn’t know how to manage or run a offense.

I agree with you completely. I think they should seriously think about letting Ben Gordon play the point or at least trade Rip Hamilton or Tayshaun Prince for a better PG. Maybe Arenas in exchange for Rip, and Villanueva. Blatche could also be included as well as Prince. I don’t just a possibility. I know Arenas isn’t a true PG but he is the only PG I know of that could be on the block very soon. Other than Chauncey Billups but let’s face it, Detroit wants to get younger not older. And they like to score. Their defensive game has definitely has definitely been lacking as of late. Arenas fits their style of game perfectly.

I think Rodney Stuckey could be one of the best 6th men in the league but I dunno what position he would be best at because he doesn’t know how to run an offense or make his teammates better by playing point, but he also can’t shoot. Can you see him doing what Rip does and curling off screens and nailing jumpers. And can anybody exlain to me why they even signed Ben Gordon with Stuckey on the team. They obviously impede each others development. And if you don’t think Stuckey is a point guard why in the world would you want you start Ben Gordon there then? He really don’t kno how do anything but gun. And I like Ben Gordon but I would never want him running my team and I don’t think he would want too. Remember in Chicago when he said he didn’t wanna start he liked coming off the bench because he knew his role better.

And even tho he’s another scoring guard they should look into trading Prince or Rip to Portland for Bayless, I cant wait to see what Jerryd can do with extended minutes.

I don’t think the Blazers would be interested in that trade. They already have a 2 that is better than Rip, and a 3 that could be better than Prince. Batum may already be better than him, since Prince was hurt a lot last year, and we really don’t know what kind of player he will be after his injury. Yeah I guess you’re right about Gordon starting at the point. It was just a thought because he is a little short for the 2, but perfect size for the 1. But I guess you’re right. Personally, I think my idea of Rip and Villanueva to Washington for Gilbert is much better than Prnce or Rip to Portland for Jerryd Bayless. I think the only thing that Portland would trade Bayless for is a young player and maybe a draft pick as well. Prince or Rip won’t convince them. Remember this is the team that convinced Indy to trade Bayless for Brandon Rush in 2008 and the same team that convinced Minny to trade Brandon Roy for Randy Foye in 2006. Asking them to give up a piece such as Bayless for a couple of old players who are way passed their prime. C’mon that’s about as bad as we know the Rush for Bayless trade is now. (Seriously, what was Indy thinking when they pulled the trigger in 2008)

Portland does do quite the swindling. I was happy when Indy drafted Bayless thinking it was the perfect fit because they had been needing a stud point guard for over a decade. But I actually think Prince is a perfect fit for Portland because he is long, can defend, and he can pass. He also is only 30 and could be a huge help to Batum and fleshing out his game because I don’t think Batum is ready for the NBA playoffs yet and thats what Portland is trying to do. And I don’t think Washington would do that trade because they don’t neccessarily need Villanueva because Blatche is better and they think Agent Zero can rebound and form one of the best backcourts in the league. I’ll believe it when I see it.

starting stuckey & bynum would be a disaster!!!

Yeah you have some problems if you have Will Bynum playing more than 15-20 mpg. And you have even worse problems if your team wants him to be a starter.

CTFU!!!^^^^^^^^^^^ I love Will Bynum but if ur team doesn’t play in Europe your fans should not be in a position to say that he is the best player to run our team. And Rodney Stuckey can’t shoot. And Ben Gordon don’t like to drive. The Pistons got issues all over the board. I’m telling ya if I was a Detroit fan I’d be wanting to trade the whole team and build around Daye, Monroe, Jerebko, and Summers. They’re the only players I feel have a future in Motown. I like White too but he should never start in this league.
