LipstickParticipantlol @ "and can’t stop eating"
But really…about asking if he’s finished…I’d like to know more about the start because he’s been off the radar ever since his senior year of h.s.

Lebron’s HairlineParticipantSuch a huge waste of talent. I remember watching him in high school put up the smoothest 30 and 15 I’ve seen. Jon Lucas worked with him one summer and said only Lebron and kobe are more talented than this guy. It’s a shame he may never play in the league

RUDEBOY_ParticipantNBA people had already mind up their mind they wouldnt waste a draft pick on him..But there were at least 3 clubs that might’ve been willing to give him a summer league invite..But Sidney screwed that up when he showed up at the Nets workout weighting over 300 lbs..And spent most of his time sitting on the sidelines with an inhaler up to face…Anyone could tell this kid wasnt in any shape to play at the nba level…
Last i heard Sidney told a Jackson,Mississippi tv station that he was lost and didnt know what he was going to do..He had dumped 2 agents and hadnt got any offers anywhere, not even overseas…

TomShoeParticipantIt seems like the prospect of having to get a "real" job (a curse word among super-talented athletes) like everybody else wasn’t enough to…
1. Take his hand out of the cookie jar (literally and figuratively)
2. Get in shape, dammit.
It’s a shame, I’ve always thought he had so much potential, but his attitude has closed so many doors…

omphalosParticipantHell I’d love to have him on my local team in Perth, I might have a word with the coach of our NBL team and see if we have a spot left for another import, because if there’s something we lack in Australia it’s scoring big men.

eazy_peachesParticipantThere were several factors that have de-railed his career. Most notably poor guidance (both parental and with the leeches that flocked around him) and no work ethic.
Unless his work ethic makes a complete 180, and fast, he won’t ever play in the NBA.
A year or two out I still thought he may end up with a short career like Eddy Curry (minus the high draft position), based off his talent level. But unlike Curry he played and ate his way out of the league before he even entered it.

LerinErinParticipant1. Eddie Curry has not had a short career….almost a decade in NBA is hardly a short career.
2. For the live of me I will never understand guys who refuse to eat a normal amount, as a hoops player they should burn calories….. Of course I know Shaq just didn’t give a damn at the end and ate and ate and ate but he honestly believed he was so good conditioning not important..
I fully expect to get engaged into infinity but nothing will stop me from thinking that if Iverson had lead a different lifestyle and had even a semi healthy diet his career would have been a couple of years longer.

eazy_peachesParticipantClearly you’re missing the point of the Eddy Curry comparison. Curry has a lot of the same weight/conditioning issues and is considered by many (though clearly not by you) as a waste of talent. I see a lot of similarities between them.
Not too mention Eddy Curry is currently 29 years old and hasn’t been an NBA regular since 2007-2008. I’m not saying he had no career, but most high profile draft picks aren’t finnished at 25.

MalcolmxParticipantSidney is not done, he is hell of young and someone overseas will take him possibly next year if he can stay healthy/injury free and get his fat behind in shape he is only 22 right now and alot can change in a year.It just take effort RENARDO, you are to damn talented I hope you get it together.

JoeWolf1There’s always the D-Leauge, which I feel he could make a team, but you can’t even play in the D-League if you’re not fit enough to run up and down the court. He had all the possibility and natural gifts to get drafted and take that route, but now if he’s going to do it, he’s going to have to swallow his pride and do it the hard way. I wonder if he can’t force himself to workout, that he has the mental fortitude to make it the hard way.

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantThere are a number of issues at work here. First, he is not in shape and apparently lacks the discipline to change. Second, he parted ways with two agents during the predraft process and was without representation at the time of the draft and summer league. Third, the baggage from his time at Mississippi State is still very fresh. This is about as toxic as a person can get, but feelings can eventually turn. For him, though the bigger problem may be getting onto a NBDL roster. While he does not have the criminal baggage of Jereme Richmond, there is a good deal of similarity to those two. Richmond could only catch on with Sauk Valley Predators of the Premier Basketball League. Clubs with money oversees aren’t going to give it away to someone with Sidney’s baggage. If he catches on with an NBDL team, his long-term prospects should improve, but there is no guarantee of that happening.

FYI, Sidney was claimed by the LA D-Fenders by way of the local try out. The big men LA will have in their training camp are Sidney, Augustine Okosun, Anthony Stover and Mamadou Diarra. Apparently Lenny Cooke couldn’t get down to 350 lbs. to join in this edition of AAU star recruits ‘where are they now?’
