IknoBall12ParticipantIm a duke fan and im a little upset to be seeing Kyrie go. A friend of mine was saying that kyrie is entering the draft but that hes overrated and i cant help but wonder is kyrie just a little bit overrated and benefitting from a weak draft class. I mean i didnt really expect for him to stay for more than a year truthfully but now that hes really leaving its kind of weird that a guy who only played a handful of games at duke is leaving after his freshman season. I think irving will be a great player and maybe even make a few all star teams in the process. But i also think he has to be in the right system. What kind of player do yall think he will pan out to be? Will he ever even reach all star status?

ProudGrandpaParticipantNot really

thatdude44ParticipantKyrie has god gifted ability and can only get better. Is he overrated? I wouldn’t say that but in one year at Duke he was slowed by injury and couldn’t do much. with that said my question if your a top 2 or 3 pick in any draft wouldn’t you do the same thing and come out

RUDEBOY_ParticipantI wouldnt say he’s overrated..He’s not a breathtaking explosive athlete like Rose or Wall..He manages the game like CP3 ..Who’s style of play is very similar to CP3 when he was a freshman…

JimmeredYaWabafetParticipantthe major difference between Paul and Irving is as a freshman Paul has a much better assist to turnover ratio and is a better defender

speedevilYou want overrated? check out Harrison Barnes.

JimmeredYaWabafetParticipantKyrie Irving: Well my favorite player is Chris Paul. But I don’t really have an NBA comparison(same here).

RUDEBOY_ParticipantIrving only played in 8 games and he made a great impression during that time..It would be interesting to see what his stats might’ve been like if he played the entire season…

SteroidParticipantHe has a lot of hype behind him considering he only played a few games in college. This is one of the weakest classes recently, and he could end up being on of the best in it though. That is really not saying too much though to be honest. If he ends up only being a15-7 guy in the NBA, that will be solid enough.

Charlie SheenParticipantNo way is over rated it isnt like people are saying he’s gonna come in and take the league by storm remember how many people thought John Wall would be an All Star this year now thats over rated. Irving is a true pg if there ever was one he can create for teammates score when he needs to and control the game better than any guard in the country besides Kemba Walker

scoutguruParticipantI don’t think he’s overrated, relative to the other players expected to enter into this draft. In the grand scheme of things, from a historical perspective, maybe he is. But regardless I still think he’d be a guy you draft pretty high, in the 5-10 region maybe. And I’m more high on him than I was of a guy like Mike Conley coming out. And Conley went 4th that year. Everyone in this draft though is being bumped up do to its talent level.

The Game_GMParticipantI saw Irving play in high school and had no doubt he would do well on the college level. We didn’t see much of him but from what we did see, he was easily the best PG in the country. What’s special about Irvin is that he is very good at everything. Some guys can just shoot, some can just dribble, some can just pass or defend, Irving is very good at all of that. What i like is that the game comes very easy to him. He is very deceptive on offense. It’s like he is coasting but at the same time tearing you apart. He does subtle things that a defender has difficulty with. He scores quietly. He gets his mates involved. Before Irving got hurt the younger Plumblee was scoring well. After Irving got hurt, Plumblee struggled. That says a lot.. As an objective scout, I think CP3 is a good comparison, but I think his ceiling could be one of Isaiah Thomas. I think he can be that good. No not overrated…

SDEParticipantOut of all the guards coming in the past years he is different, just special i tell you (Yoda Voice)
Coach K is SICK right now
I always thought he had an NBA game anyway. I was suprised how coach K let him play free and be him. John Wall was coming to duke but to many people thought coach k would hold him back also. As far as NBA goes he will hit the court and be special. i don’t know how good he can be cause he always stepped up everytime i seen him play. Iriving have been giving PG’s work for a long time. It’s amazing how he gets better every game. He has no limits to his game. How many PG’s in the league now can shoot, drive at will, assist, play defense? Kyrie’s comfortable everywhere on the court not a lot of players can say that.

akhan786Participant@Charlie Sheen you get a point just because of your name and picture

MachettiParticipantIt’s Understandable that a Duke fan would have mix feelings on Kyrie. Duke knew coming into the season that he would probably stay 1 year anyway. He kind robbed them because he only played 8 games. I know he was injured, but this was a big what if year for Duke. I believed if Kyrie was healthy that they would of had a better chance of repeating. Despite playing in the tournament the team never really knew how to play with Irving and you could tell in the Zona game. As far as overrated goes he really didn’t play much so I couldn’t comment on that.

TallmanNYCParticipantHe just seemed so good so quickly at Duke. Remember there were some big games even early in the season where he seemed in total control. I don’t know what happens at the next level where he will only have average PG speed and hops. But he showed us plenty in college. The guy just seemed to have no flaws, no weaknesses, to any part of his game.

thparadoxParticipantHe really is CP3 lite.
Everything about the way he moves with the ball, passes, the way he drives and dishes. He already has a great shooting stroke and percentages.
CP3 is kind of superhuman though… so I don’t think that’s a fair expectation.
I would draft him hoping he’s CP3 with 70% of the court vision, body strength, quickness.
Still, that’s pretty damn good. If you could guarantee that, wouldn’t that make him the sure #1?

JoeVH1WeddingWarsParticipantI think he is just like CP3 and would be perfect on the Kings with moving Tyreke at the 2 and Cousins at the 4 or 5. Kyrie seems like a very smart kid and will develop a lot just as CP3, Deron Williams and Rose has. He another elite point guard coming into the league.
Also, I do agree that Harrison Barnes is overrated. He’s very slow with minimal ball handling skills. He kind of reminds me of Shane Battier when he was at Duke. Barnes shouldnt be a top 5 but maybe a 6-10 pick but I guess we’ll see.
