I wanted to discuss about the Atlanta Hawks and their situation at point guard position.

Bibby is getting old and he’s not as effective as he was in Sacto’s days, however he is still a great outside shooter.

Do you think Jeff Teague has the necessary tools to be a good (if not great) point guard in the long term for the Hawks? And also how long do you think will it get for JT#0 to take over for big minutes? He has ridicolously long arms for a 6-2 man and at Wake he could prove his amazing scoring ability in different ways. He’s also very quick and can slash very well, he’s atlethic and Lamar Odom knows that (he got dunked on early in the season)

I was wondering if the staff and coach Woody really believe in him, because i would be worried if Atl give to Teague the same threatment Acie Law received (even if he was a worse prospect than Jeff actually is)

yeah i do… he got decent minutes the other night against chicago and played very well while he was in… i think he can be a good pg in the nba.

Yes I belive Teague will be the PG of the future for the hawks.

At 6-0, 6-1 he has a 6-7 wingspan, combined with his oustanding quickness he could really turn into a great defender.

At Wake Forest we all seen him light up the college level and had some people considering him a lottery pick and Acc player of the year, etc. He has a very good handle and is excellent at creating his own shot, also very, very athletic which enables him to finish above the rim.

But some of the downfalls are his desicion making and his inconsistency, for example i can recall some games at Wake where Teague would have 5-6 TO’s and the second half of the season he didn’t dominate like he did the first half of the year.

But overall I think he has what it takes to be a starting caliber guard in the next 2 years.

He was really good at wake, i live about 15 minutes away from wake and got to see him all the time. He is a good shooter and a very good slasher. He will be an above average point guard in about 2 years.

I think he can be like Devin Harris was in 08-09 at his best….He’s just got to keep developing his PG skills and shooting. He’s also a very mediocre defender for someone as physically gifted as he is.

Teague is the real deal and as soon as Bibby steps down or is moved to the bench Teague should do well there another great Wake Forest guard but not as good as Paul.

JEFF TEAGUE IS EXACTLY WHAT THE ATL HAWKS NEED.CONSIDERING THAT A FEW PLAYERS WILL BE FREE AGENTS IN A FEW MONTHS, I STAND STRONGLY WITH THE COACHES DECISION TO CHOOSE TEAGUE TO PLAY FOR THE HAWKS.TEAGUE WORKS HARD, IS A TEAM PLAYER, AND CAN SCORE WHEN HE FOCUSES ON THE HOOP..I THINK THAT TEAGUE IS A NATURAL BORN PROFESSIONAL BASKETBALL PLAYER AND YEARS FROM NOW HE WILL HAVE THE NECCESSARY TOOLS, AND EXPERIENCE TO BE THE NEXT KOBE B..OR MJ..BUT HONESTLY TEAGUE IS SETTING HIS OWN PATH, AND ONE DAY OTHER ROOKIES WILL LOOK UP TO HIM AS AN ICON..

Jamal Crawford isn’t a point guard. Teague should be a good backup, but I’m not completely sold he’ll be a starter. Watching him develop should be interesting.

teague is starting pg in hawks in about 3 years…. craword is excellent 6th man that can score…. he doesnt have necesary skills to be pg and he will always be shoot first player that can bring energy from the bench….

It’s hard to predict the future, but yes… I think he can and will be the answer.

I’ve known Teague for awhile, since he was a freshman at Pike High School, and he has that hunger, seriousness and competitiveness you want in a player. He only stops working hard when his body just literally can’t do it anymore… That’s how serious his work ethic is. He goes hard in practice, drills and workouts. He’s hungry… starving to be a great player. He showed up in Atlanta like a month early to start working.

Next season, he’ll be pushing Bibby for that spot.

another overhyped guy this summer by some of ya’ll. i agree he will have a good career but just like i tried to tell some of ya’ll he just isnt ready to push bibby. i really dont think some of ya’ll understand how different it is to shoot and play in college and then shoot and play in the nba. especially as a pg. you have to adjust and you have alot to learn. its hard to even take time from a average vet pg. it takes alot to do work in the nba. every guy has drive because this is the best of the best and as a guard you arent gonna make it without that drive. jeff has alot to learn and i think he wont really start to do much untill his third year. hes not close to being better then bibby at this point

The people who thought he’d push Bibby this season were overhyping him, BUT… He’s not overhyped as far as his talent, work ethic and drive.

I agree that he probably won’t see any major playing time until year three, but he’ll be pushing Bibby hard for minutes next season.
