Tyreke JohnsonParticipantHey guys I haven’t been posting on this site for awhile and i figuired with the season right around the corner I might as well make a topic!
Is it just me or is everyone claiming Kevin Durant MVP a little bit premature? I know he is already one of the leagues premiere players and last season took the league by storm by leading the league in scoring and almost bringing the Lakers to a Game 7 but I believe we are forgetting guys with MVP talent such as Wade, Lebron, Melo, Paul and Kobe. Wade has shown on multiple occasions he can put up MVP type numbers and with Lebron on his team, he has a chance now to score even more, with Lebron as the distributor. Lebron averaged 8 assists on the Cavs last season, if he can average 8 assists with that team I believe he has the chance to average 10 assists with the Miami roster, that is if he is put into a distributor type role. Lebron will get around 22-24 points as well because of Bosh and Wade also scoring 20 or more points but that will allow him to focus more on rebounding then scoring all the time like he had to on the Cavs, getting a couple more rebounds each game could potentially allow him to average 10-11. If Lebron could pull of something that hasn’t been pulled off since the Big O decades ago, auto MVP. Melo, if with Denver this whole season, will prove to other teams why he has worth the Max Deal, I expect him to have a pretty good season, he can score at will already and if he can improve his rebounding and defensive intensity while leading Denver to a 2 or 3 seed, he will be in the mix. Many people forget how great Paul is and have named Rondo and Deron as the leagues best Point Guards, Paul will have none of it, a typical season for Paul is 20+ points and 10 assists, I would not be suprised with all the rest and training Paul has had that if he averages 25 points and 12 assists, with the addition of Ariza, a solid wing player and West who was an all star not too long ago, if Paul and Okafor can click, it is a possibility. I expect Kobe to start out slow because of his surgery but around mid November early December Kobe will score a lot of points, at a very efficient rate, I recall last season he was averaging 29 points shooting over 45% from the field before his injuries, with Kobe improving every year I could see him doing that again this year, but for a whole entire season, barring any type of injury of course.
Is it just me or is the Miami Heat extremely overrated? I agree having Bosh, Wade and Lebron on your roster would make any team relevant but the fact people are saying that they can match the record of the 95-96 Bulls of 72-10 is ridiculous, of course this team is talented but you need to have chemistry and be able to click with your team and I honestly cannot see that happening in their first season playing with eachother. Also people already have them in the Finals, excuse me are you forgetting about Boston and Orlando? Of course the Celtics are a year older but they have made some solid off season acquisitions and with the sudden emergence of Rondo as a star and the Big 3 still intact, they are surely not out of the discussion. The Magic it could be argued have the deepest team in the NBA and though this offseason have really not made any changes other then resigning Reddick and getting Richardson, with Howard slowly improving his post moves and Carter having one year under his belt with the team, they could potentially reappear in the Finals.
Is it just me or are the Miluawakee Bucks not getting any love? To me they have had one of the best offseasons throughout the league and after Jennings getting out of his slump (more notably in the playoffs against the Hawks) and with Bogut remaining healthy throughout the season(hopefully) the Bucks could grab a 4th seed in the East and be the team nobody wants to face in the Playoffs.
Is it just me or shouldnt the Memphis Grizzlies put it together by now? Their starting lineup is Conley, Mayo, Gay, Randolph and Gasol, to me that is a very talented lineup and though their bench isn’t deep still they have gotten guys like Henry and Vasquez from the draft while having Sam Young from last year. Mayo has probably put a lot of work this offseason after being cut from Team USA, Conley hopefully becomes the starting Point Guard fans have been waiting for him to become, Gay after spending the summer with Team USA may come back with a sense of maturity and motivation after having a taste of success by winning Gold, Gay has been a fringe first option to me so hopefully this season he will become a go to guy for the Grizzlies and be much improved. Randolph showed us he still has a couple more all star years left in him and this year I expect him to be as consistent and reliable as last year. Gasol showed us bits and bits of improvment last year and hopefully this season he can put it all together and become a deadly low post threat for Memphis. If all works out and Memphis can hold onto their 3rd quarter leads (blew the most 3rd quarter leads last year) I could see them fighting for an 8th seed in the very deep West.
Is it just me or do you think the Suns will somehow make their way into the playoffs yet again? Every season for the past couple years has been the year the Suns will miss the playoffs, last year they even made it to the Conference Finals, and though I do not expect them to be there again this year I do expect them to make the playoffs, Nash is still a top 3 PG in my eyes and with Alvin Gentry as their coach I cannot see them missing the playoffs unless a key guy gets injured. Yes they lost their only big man Amare, but they did get Hedo, Warrick and Childress who are all solid players, and in the run and gun offense their numbers will surely go up. I expect them to have another good year and will get a 6th seed in the playoffs.
Is it just me or do you think if the Trailblazers avoid major injury could get a 2 or 3 seed in the West? Last season they got the 6th seed with basically half their team injured and their big man consisted of veterans, D Leaguers and a rookie. That is pretty impressive. With Batum back this year to fill their need at starting SF and Oden and Pryzbilla back from injury, I can potentially see them having a great year, of course Roy and Aldridge will be the reasons why too.

RUDEBOY_Participant1.Durant is a major talent..I think right now he’s the 4th best player in the league..Behind Kobe,Lebron & Wade..But folks are jumping on his bandwagon like they jumped on Tracy McGrady’s bandwagon a few years ago..Remember when T-Mac was tearing up the league and leading it in scoring..And some people were saying he was better than Kobe?
2.I don’t think Miami is overrated..Anytime you have 3 of the league’s top best players on the same team anything is possible..Wade carried a Miami team into the playoffs that wasn’t very talented last year..In 2007 Lebron had the worst supporting cast in league history into the Finals…My problem with the Heat is their lack luster supporting cast is overrated..they’re a lottery team if Lebron and Wade get hurt…
3.The Bucks are getting love..They’re a 4th or 5th seed..and thats where most people have them…So many people are overrating the addition of Gooden & Maggette..Gooden loses focus too often, but he’s a solid rebounder and a poor defender..and Maggette is a ballhog!!!
4.The Grizzlies started to get it last season..Becuz they could’ve won 50 games..They let a ton of 3rd quarter leads get away..They had the worst scoring bench in the nba ,poor team defense,no outside shooting…And was 1 of the worst passing teams in the NBA last year..
5.With a system in place and a great player like Nash anything is possible..The Suns have the talent to be a 7 or 8 seed..But too many teams in the west have upgraded their frontcourt and lack of frontcourt talent is The Suns weak spot…I dont see them making the playoffs..

sheltwon3ParticipantI remember that and if T Mac would have stayed healthy, we could still be having that argument. Offense wise, T Mac is better than Kobe but overall Kobe gets that edge and I am a Kobe fan. T Mac has some natural ability that Kobe does not have but Kobe appears to be the harder worker and tougher player.

ChewyParticipantBogut starts the season injured and they really do not have any subs that can cover all the things he does on the court.
Maggette said that he wont come back until he is "fully healed" and he estimated himself at "around 80%." That is not good news for the Bucks.
John Salmons has a history of struggling in his second year with teams. This doesnt mean he won’t have a great season, but I won’t be suprised if he doesnt.
Definently a playoff team, but I strongly feel that they can’t compete with the East Top 3.
