mikeyvthedonParticipantOr do people feel me on liking this guy Mikhail Prokhorov? Lord only knows how he really made his money and other personal issues with him, but I for one like the fact that while he definitely seems to be a grounded individual. I for one have been saying people need to put themselves in the shoes of a player, even as a fan or an owner, and this guy seems to feel that. Well done, Prokhorov, to me you are taking the high road and I have respect for that. If I were a player, I would take note of how this guy thinks and as a fan I for one am appreciative that he actually seems to take into account the well being of a player who should be able to make whatever choice they feel is best in that situation. So far, Mike has my support.

knicks82Participant“in Soviet Russia, ball dunks you.” But for real he seems like a cool guy, obviously I dont think he got the players that he thought he was gonna get this summer, but neither did alot of other teams.

omar dayzeParticipanti dont know why i got a neg for that earlier, i can GUARANTEE hes under-handing Putin some serious money…. Roman Abramovich bought him a multi-million dollar yacht for some occasion, and the one oligarch/tycoon whos not greasing up Putin is now in a Siberian prison. Its a fact. Its like Putin’s ‘tax’ for those who came out on top in the scramble for post-soviet riches.

mikeyvthedonParticipantI know all about that game. That means there must be at least two former KGB who are bitter. I took courses in school about Russia, it is crazy stuff. But, so far, what he has done in the US seems clean enough, I think the Nets are going to be a better team really soon. They are already better than last year, they are young and he did not overspend on any max-contracts, so that gives him some flexibility. As soon as they officially move, I think they will blow-up and get some names. If they truly pulled off a Chris Paul trade, that would be rad, but even so, Devin Harris had a down year, he will probably bounce back now that he is under the radar. Brook is solid, watch for Outlaw to be a good pick-up, even if he is maybe not worth 7. I would rather have Outlaw for 7 than RJ for 10-15 that he was making on his second deal. The Harris trade did not turn out as bad as they thought, and all I can say is the Vince Carter trade, for as horrible as they were last year, at least landed them Courtney Lee, who has potential. Add in Terrence Williams and the fact that they picked-up a nice PF prospect in Derrick Favors, and this team is not rebuilding badly. If it does work out, they have an owner who will spend the money to keep them together, and if it does not work out than you have an owner who will fix it. If you are a Nets fan, you must be elated. New Jersey is known as one of the most cursed franchises in basketball, they have never won a championship, they traded the rights to Dr. J and seemingly never recovered. Even when they made the Finals twice in a row, they never really had a snowballs chance in hell of winning, they got the first pick in the worst draft in history and they have been without a front court since. Things are looking up for the Nets now though, and I would say Prokhorov is the guy to turn some things around. He will gamble, which is what he will have to do, and if it does not work than he will fix it. Also, I think he might be ahead of Cuban in one way, in that he will not get sentimentally attached to players and will trade pieces he must for the good of the team. If he wins one championship in the next 10 years, with what he has right now, that would be a tremendous accomplishment.
