I was just wondering, if there was a team who wanted Anthony Davis bad enough but didnt win the lotto, would they deal one of their young promising players plus their own lotto pick for the first over-all pick? and if they did, would the owner of that pick be willing to accept such a deal? going through the current nine teams with the biggest chance of missing out on Davis, i played with these scenarios on what they might give up to deal for him:

Charlote: Kendall Marshall and their pick

Washington: Kevin Seraphin and their pick

New Orleans: Greivis Vasquez and their pick

Sacramento: Tyreke Evans

Cleveland: Anderson Varejao and their pick

Toronto: Andrea Bargnani and their pick

Portland: LeMarcus Aldrich

Detroit: Brandon Knight and their pick

Utah Jazz: Derrick Favors and their pick

now, if you have the top pick and one of these teams offered their package would you take it? if yes, which team would you have to be to do so. or do you feel Anthony Davis is better than taking any of the deals?

If you are bad enough in this NBA to get the top pick, you need the whole light at the end of the tunnel marketing that comes with drafting Davis as much as actual production. If Brooklyn was to win the lottery, they could package him to get Dwight Howard, but that is probably it. No other team that could win it would bother considering a deal. It buys everyone in the organization some time and job security.

 Seraphin is looking legit right now, I think that Washington can live with Nene and Seraphin as their big men (I see Nene being the PF, because Seraphin can’t guard the 4 spot). I say they grab a 2 or a 3

Also how does Charlotte get Kendall Marshall exactly?

If I have Davis and all of these were offered to me, I would consider Utah (considering you mean their earlier pick). Apart from that I wouldn’t want Varejao or Bargnani, becuase they can’t stay healthy and Aldridge is both older and more expensive that Davis.

If I am the Nets and I get the first pick I would consider trading it for LaMarcus Aldrich.  The Nets have to win now to keep D-Will and LMA would give them a nice core of D Will, LMA, Gerald Wallace, and Brook Lopez with Gerald Green, Marshon Brooks, and Kris Humphries being solid rotation guys.  

That would give them two all-stars, an inside scorer in Lopez, a rebounder in Humphries, a glue guy in Wallace and some promising wing scorers in Green an Marshon Brooks.  That might be enough to contend in the East… at least for a top 4 or 5 playoff spot.

I almost hit the report as offensive button cuz no one would trade Anthny Davis for anything you mentioned. Why would teams trade Davis fr mid-to low round picks and players selected mid to low round. I dont think any of the deals mentioned would get you Igoudala, or Al Jeffersn let alone Anthony Davis. Utah probably has the best shot with what you offered tho

If Utah has the 3rd pick then if Charlotte gets the first pick a combo of Derrick Favors and MKG might be the way to go over keeping Anthony Davis.  … I think that Biyombo, Favors, and MKG would be a good front line with Byron Mullens off the bench.  

But, AT A MINIMUM I would want a promising young player AND a top five pick for Anthony Davis.  He might not turn into a Hall of Famer but he should be a very good player.  

Talent wise, at a minimum I see Davis as a Rasheed Wallace/Josh Smith combo with Smith’s athleticism, shot blocking skills, rebounding numbers, and dunking, with Rasheed’s defense, versatile offensive game, soft touch, and basketball smarts with better leadership and intangibles.  AD might not be the focal point of a Big Three Dynasty like Jordan was with Pippen and Grant/Rodman, or even Shaq was with Kobe and Fisher/Horry.  But, he should be a focal point of a CHAMPIONSHIP team or a great contender like the Rasheed Wallace/Ben Wallace 2004 Pistons, and Isiah’s Bad Boy Teams.  Rasheed Wallace was also one of the main players on the very good 2000 Blazers team.  I see Davis being a rich man’s combo of Rasheed Wallace and Ben Wallace, and not as much of a Tim Duncan or Shaq player.

You can build a contender around Davis but it might have to be based on depth and defense with a GREAT core and supporting cast. 

If I drafted Anthony Davis I would focus on being the next team in line after the current Thunder/Bulls/Heat/Lakers/Spurs era.

there is absolutely NO (and I really mean NO) GM in nba that would accept trading a top 5 pick (not only 1st) to get a huge contract from an underperforming, underdefending, "overdrawing his hair", not so young, pf.

I don’t the pistons would give up brandon knight and a pick for davis especially with his play as of late..proabably rodney stuckey, daye and a pick which sounds more likely. Davis would def. be nice paired next to davis, especially monroe lack of athletism ..ill pull the trigger on that.(stuckey has a nice contract and  daye)

I wonder what D-Will would do as regards his contract if the Nets gain Davis. We could see them going after Howard but if Howard does really want to go to the Nets then just wait a year and you could have D-Will, Howard and Davis all on one roster.

I seem to recall that GSW had to send 2 or 3 first rounders to move up from 3rd to 1st in 1993 to get C-Web, Davis could have a similar asking price.

If i’m a GM and my team has the top pick, I don’t know if I don’t listen to Utah if they come offering gifts. Especially If that team is Charlotte, Washington, or New Orleans. Utah has a lot of talent, and proven talent at that. I mean Milsap and Jefferson are studs, flat out. I think any team would love to have them. Yes, they each have their faults, but no way does any team not love what they bring. They have Devin Harris, who is killin’ it, and seems to have shooken off what was bogging him down, and Cj Miles, who is definitely a great option off of anyones bench. Plus Utah also has young talent, in Burks and Kanter and the rights to Ante Tomic, and a lottery pick. I mean damn, if winning is what a team needs, Utah has a lot of pieces that can help you get it done. Especially if you can clean house and still get a pick in this lottery. And I know that Davis is a stud and a probable star, but sometimes you have to look at the bigger picture. Now I don’t know if Utah even considers anything close to this, but it would seem to me that any losing team not intrigued by what they can offer, isn’t very interested in winning.

I can’t imagine Utah going into next season with the same roster, knowing Favors will only get 20 minutes and Kanter 10. These guys aren’t exactly making chump change being #3 picks. I look for Utah to make a big splash by moving way up in the lottery, possibly two to snag Gilchrist. The asking price for Davis would be ridiculous, they would pass on him.
