The longer Carmelo Anthony goes without getting traded despite signs he will, the more his potential list of suitors continues to grow.
On Saturday, Sam Amico of NBA.com reported that in addition to previously mentioned New Jersey, the Wolves and Kings are in play for Anthony.
“Early word around NBA is Nuggets will try to trade Carmelo to one of three teams: Wolves, Kings or Nets,” he tweeted. “In other words, careful what you wish for.”
While Anthony may have a preferred list of teams he’d like to play for — the Knicks and Rockets are said to be chief among them — the Nuggets don’t have to lock themselves into just those teams in trying to find an agreeable trade partner.
The team can instead find the best deal available — it’s believed they are looking for young players and picks — instead of only dealing with Melo’s list.
Further, Anthony is widely thought of as a franchise player, so it’s to be expected that several teams may make a play for him.
Add it all up, and Anthony heading to one of his preferred team seems to be no sure bet at this current juncture.

Melo’s suitors
New York. His reported preferred destination. Packages around Danilo Gallinari, Eddy Curry and Anthony Randolph/Wilson Chandler and a draft pick have been rumored.
Chicago. The Bulls could return Luol Deng to the Nuggets, perhaps the best talent they could get to replace Melo at small forward.
New Orleans. They could make a play in an effort to keep Chris Paul around.
Orlando. It’s reportedly another preferred destination of Anthony’s.
Houston. The Rockets can offer money relief and draft picks.
Los Angeles Clippers. L.A. offers Melo a bigger stage, and they have young talent to return.
Charlotte. Erick Dampier’s $13 million non-guaranteed contract could be a nice trade chip.
New Jersey. A move to Brooklyn in a few years could suit Melo and his wife.
Golden State. Anthony, David Lee and Stephen Curry would be a solid nucleus.
Minnesota. They could offer draft picks, and maybe even Ricky Rubio’s rights.
Sacramento. It’s possible they may have to part with one of their young small forwards in Donte Greene or Omri Casspi to get Melo.

agreed, it was absolutely pointless. i mean he said the kings might have to give up casspi or greene. not casspi or greene, those are franchise guys!! lol. they would HAVE to give up one of them because there wouldnt be room for melo, casspi, and greene. plus greene or casspi wouldnt be the worst of what they would give up. they would probably have to part ways with a combo of these players: cousins, whiteside, greene, casspi, thompson, greene, and landry. and, melo just isnt going to the kings. 5 teams make sense to me. ny, nj, houston, lac, and orlando. because all the other teams know he probably wont resign so why give up talent for a rental?

Like Bobby 7, I’m kind of surprised that some of these teams are willing to give up young players and picks for Melo, especially if there is a good chance he won’t stay. Maybe you make the move if he’s the guy that puts you over the top then you go for it, but I definitely don’t see him wanting to stay with the Wolves or Kings, though the Kings have a start of a good nucleus. Maybe they want him to go there and thinks he will be impressed and stay when he gets to play with all their young talent. I see the Wolves having no chance of keeping him, though it would be funny for them to shell out players and picks then he picks up and leave. I’m not sure there is any other way to run that team into the ground more quickly. That team won’t even be a decent team if once they trade for him. Funny thing is this is actually the best scenario for any team that is interested in signing him that has cap room next year. If he gets traded to a team that he doesn’t want to stay with, then teams like the Knicks and Nets will not have had to give up any assets to sign him which makes rebuilding a much faster process.

this is the best situation for the knicks
if he goes to minni he wud leave and kaun wud be fired(might be best thing to happen to them ever)
then we cud sign him and use our young pieces to trade for a pg (cough cough cp3 cough cough)
