Don’t get me wrong, no injury is a good sign for a big man but if the reports are true and he has a high probability of returning to full strength very soon, this injury could be a blessing in disguise for Embiid.

Hear me out:  Embiid is a very raw prospect.  His ceiling is massive but he has only played Basketball a few years.  If he was drafted #1, especially when you pass on guys like Wiggins and Parker, he would have enormous pressure on him to live up to that pick.  Now with the injury, expectations are lowered, he may slide a bit in the draft, and he may even miss the better part of this upcoming season.  That extra time could get him more accustomed to the lifestyle and work on his body.  Sliding in the draft then means he could likely only exceed expectations, a la Andre Drummond.

If Embiid falls past 3 it may be the best thing to happen to his career.  All pressure would be off, he would then be viewed as a project and be brought along at the pace he will probably need.  Guy could be a monster in time.

If he only had one injury, than maybe i can see where you’re coming from.

But he’s suffered two injuries. A stress fracture in his back and now broken foot.

These injuries are not a blessing. This situation is also not a blessing.

My concern is that this is looking increasingly bleak.  He was also injured in HS.  My gut instinct on this is that Embiid has gone from a baby Hakeem to Ceiling = Sam Bowie, Floor = Greg Oden.
