So Jeremy Tyler left high school after his junior year at San Diego High to play in Isreal.  He quit, most likely because of lack of playing time, and then decided to play for a Japanese team.  Anybody know anything about him?  I know he’s most likely going to enter the 2011 draft.  He’s about 6’10-6’11 and 240-250lbs at age 19.  Anybody got anything on him?  Expecations?

I have a sneaking suspiction that Boston will take him with their 1st round pick. One thing noone talks about, other then Simmons is the fact Boston didn’t take DeAndre Jordan, instead going for Giddens.

With KG declining, Tyler can come in and learn from Garnett and Big Baby Davis.

He seems to have a pretty good physique but I want to know about his play style, weaknesses, and strengths.

Where he goes in the draft will depend on rather or not he has matured from the hot tempered high schooler that couldn’t get along with teammates and argued with coaches..To becoming a more resposible human being….But i remember 2 years ago seeing some sites had him as a top 3 pick in this year’s draft..

Tyler might be this year’s version of Brandon Jennings..Jennings went from highly rated high school sensation to struggling to find his niche and became a flop overseas.That lowered his draft stock..

 Alot of people said that if High Schoolers were allowed to enter to league when Jennings came out, he would’ve been a top 3 pick coming out of high school..

Tyler is my pick to be this years draft sleeper…He reminds me of a young pre-belly & pre-kids pre-drug loving Shawn Kemp..He runs the floor like a guard,has nice post moves and outstanding leaping abilty..Scouts were very high on him.but like Jennings he has struggled overseas and he has soured on scouts..Some Sites have him ranked as a 2nd rounder to undrafted now…

But with alot of big name players deciding to return to school and no legit big men in the draft..After all the workouts are done..Dont be be surprised to see Tyler go in the 12 to 25 range..

Although he is fairly athletic, his movement seems stiff and robotic (almost like Al Horford w/ much less skills). He is 6’10 w/ 7’3 wingspan which is fairly good. He is almost like Favors a notch below in athleticism. He is farther behind than Favors because he is both unpolished both on offense and defense.

Yea pretty much as raw as it gets. He’s not even an elite athlete, he’s good but not in Favors level as far as talent. He has tools to work with.

Favors is in the nba and people still say he’s 2 years away from being a solid contributor..Tyler is a guy i would take a chance on in the late 1st round if he has matured…

The Tokyo Apache ended their season due to complications with the Earthquake, but it seems like Jeremy was improving as the season progressed. I do not know what he is doing now, but he is an intriguing prospect due to his size and talent. In about 15 mins per game, he was averaging about 10 points and 6.4 boards per game. Not to mention that he got to more than likely guard Robert Swift in practice, and while Rob may not be a beast, he is a fairly young and former NBA player. Certainly better than about anyone he would have played against in college. Seeing that Japan does not have a lot of 7 footers, most of the imports are American big men, so you at least go up against decent comp as far as that is concerned. I have no idea where Jeremy will be taken, and I am sure people will be cautious, but I am guessing he is worth a gamble in the late first and definitely in the second round.

i have the spurs taking tyler with their first rounder. there is no doubt in my mind that a team like boston or san antonio or la lakers could draft him and with their leadership get him on track

 I think Knicks should take him if they are smart.  The need size and rebounds and he gives you both.  Also you can keep him overseas for a while.  I think with Jerome James and Tyler, Knicks front court will be long and athletic and very deep.

The Knicks need a player that can play defense, from reports and scouting Tyler is not good defensively. He can be a good shot blocker w/ his length and athleticism, but he gets lost on defense due to lack of instinct.

Most young player come into the league not knowing defense.  He has the size and length and with Bob Hill coaching him overseas, I could see him being a decent defender.  He could be a DJ Jordan type player down the road.

come on man! he is not half of the athlete Shawn Kemp was, he is maybe slightly above averege. his post game also very dicey, he does have nice shooting touch for a big man, but he is Marreese Speights at best!
