JNixonParticipantIn a hyped matchup, what’s the most one-sided, dominate performance you’ve seen?
To me it was the Final 4 matchup 2 seasons ago between Derrick Rose and Darren Collison. Derrick Rose outperformed Collison sooo bad that he fouled out of the game on purpose when he had 4 fouls with about 5 min. left in the game! I used to think very highly of him, but I haven’t thought of him the same since then as an NBA player.
Your thoughts…

gatorheelsParticipantThat is a good one Iguodala. Also the game before that in the elite 8 between Memphis vs. Texas. Derrick Rose vs. DJ Augustin. That game was played in Houston. I actually thought Texas was going to win that game with the home crowd behind them. Plus I thought Augustin was awesome but Rose was just on another level. Rose clearly showed why he was the #1 pick that year.

Bryant24Participantthis aint no overhyped matchup but i think adam morrison and jj reddick was hyped alot in college and they both was crowned as being the next larry bird and either one of them filled that role i think jus because a player is white and can shoot threes dosent mean they are the next larry burd and just because a player is black and they can drive to the rack and dunk dosent mean they are the next mj

td8118ParticipantI would go with Rose against DJ as more of a one sided performance….if you remember, everyone and their mother(Dick Vitale included) picked Texas to knock out the first number one seed because of Memphis’s poor free throw shooting…that wouldnt kill them untill the championship game

td8118ParticipantIMO Lakers/Celtics last year, Kobe didn’t really show up

HaleParticipantMemphis is my favorite team and those are the 2 best answers I could give, UCLA and Texas.

llperezMost overhyped Finals matchup was probably Orlando Magic vs Houston Rockets in ’95. Orlando was supposed to be the next great dynasty with Shaq and Penny. But they were no match for Houston who was a veteran team. Nick andersen missing 4 straight freethrows when all he needed was one to win the game was huge as well.
In NCAA, I would say the Memphis UCLA final 4 game has to be high up there. Darren Collison was destroyed by Rose. The UCLA team under performed except Westbrook who matched Rose and CDR on both ends. Love didn’t get the ball nearly enough. The perimeter shooters all went awol.

td8118ParticipantThey were no match but MSU being down 20 points to UNC at half time was horrible…Loved UNC but wish they wouldve gotten to play UCONN in the final game

gatorheelsParticipantYeah the title game this year was awful
I was hoping that all 4 of the #1 seeds would make it to the final four…then UConn & UNC would meet in the finals.

JNixonParticipantIm surprised no one has mentioned the Magic-Cavs series when Dwight Howard intimidated Big Z. That was pretty bad as well…

IndianaBasketballParticipantLol Blake Griffin versus Tyler Hansbrough during the tournament. North Carolina won, but Griffin dominated the game and showed why he was going to be the top pick in the draft.

amilcarParticipantOne of my favorite basketball moments of all time was Syracuse vs Texas in 2003, Final Four. I am a huge ‘Cuse fan, and Carmelo was quickly becoming my favorite player (he still is!). That team was filled with young talent, started the season not even in the top 25 poll(s), but they went on that magical run. I also loved that Texas team w/TJ Ford… they were so good, heavy favorites, and I think they were the only #1 seed to make it to the Final Four that year. As much as I was rooting for the Orange, I had that feeling you get in the tournament when the underdog team that you love is finally about to go down. I happened to be in Vegas that day, and snuck out of a lame “obligation” (a stuffy brunch with my roommate and his girlfriend), and went and watched the game at a sports desk, where the TV’s were the size of small movie screens, rocking my road Orange #15 Syracuse jersey. I remember the odds were in Texas’ favor and people were placing all sorts of crazy bets, and Texas fans were kind of heckling me… anyway Melo was simply amazing that day… I still get goose bumps thinking about it… he was going off… everyone had wondered how all of the high school-to-pro’s would have looked if they had gone to college, and we were finally seeing it… it was like you’d expect… an NBA stud destroying the competition… Carmelo was grabbing rebounds, dribbling up court, and pulling up for three’s… he attacked the basket using the dribble, showed of an already advanced and deadly mid-range game… he had one play where he went baseline and seemed like he has going to dribble through to other side, but stopped, twisted and exploded for a two handed dunk… no one, literally no one on Texas could guard him at all… I think he had like 33 and 13, or 35 and 10… I remember all these people eveywhere who had bet on Texas were freaking out and screaming and tearing up their tickets… it was awesome… there have been some great freshman since then (Durant, Beasley, Rose etc.), but none of them were able to dominate the NCAA tournament the way ‘Melo did that year, all the way to win the National Title… I’m not sure we’ll stuff like that for a while.

marcusfizer21ParticipantDerrick Rose creamed Darren Collison and took him to school and handed him his breakfast, lunch and dinner all in one game in that Final Four match-up…

Henry25ParticipantI dont think the Celtics vs. Lakers in the finals 2 years ago was dissapointing at all. The series went to six games, and in all fareness the Lakers could’ve won if the hadnt blow two huge leads in the second haves of 2 games in that series. THat series was close except for game 6.
