Firstly I get the bad timing with Lebron going nuts on the C’s but clearly the Heat are far from perfect and here’s a couple of things I think Miami should do to have a legitimite chance at winning it all far at least a couple of years to come:

    1. Move Dwayne Wade to a Manu Ginobli / James Harden role off the bench. Hear me out, The only person who can slow down Dwayne Wade is himself and his bad knee’s.  We’ve seen he’s lacking explosiveness and lift on his jumpshot in the playoffs, and needed his knee drained before Game 2 of the Indiana series.  So to keep Wade fresh come playoffs time Spo would need to limit his minutes like Manu Ginobli recieves, around 25 – 30 minutes a game.  Secondly Miami struggles for bench points and with Wade controlling that unit and playing against the opponents second unit we could get them 17 -20 points off the bench.
    2. As a result Miami needs a starting 2 who can play 20 minutes a game, gives defense and range to space the floor for Lebron and Bosh. The perfect fit I see is Courtney Lee from Houstin. He is a RFA and Miami can’t afford him straight up without Houstin matching but a trade I like is Noris Cole for Lee with maybe Miami’s pick thrown in for a later pick to keep Miami’s cap flexibility open.  Now Houstin does have 2 decent points but with Lowry wanting out and Drogic being a restricted free agent and likely to get offered a huge pay check somewhere else, houstin would probably like the insurance to play the point just in case.
    3. Miami now needs a back up point and I’ve been impressed with Dooling’s play off the bench for the Celtic’s and so would Pat Riley. He gives energy on defense, high basketball IQ and some clutch baseline 3’s. He is unrestriced free agent and Miami could offer him between the mimimum, up to about 1 million.
    4. Which still leaves I belive miami’s mini MLE which can go to trying to add more height to the frontline. If Kaman get’s ammnestied to allow room for Davis he could be available if he’s willing to take a pay cut.  But I don’t really see this working out

What do you guy’s think??? It’s my first post here, I’ve been reading for years, thought I’d finally contribute. sorry about the thesis, It’s fun playing GM

Voting down on a fresh account would just be bad courtesy.

I think an opinion, being good or bad, is ultimately good insight for myself and others at this site.

Thanks for your post. Keep posting in the future!

In such a guard dominated league now, I would say they take a chance on a guy like Eric Bledsoe if they can manage to pry him away on draft day. Then like you said, have DWade playing less minutes to preserve him for later in the year and extend his career (coach Pop works miracles for his players). Lebron is a workhorse and can keep going strong with 36 mpg per year for the next like 5 years anyway so they have to look to build around him some more. Its so frustrating because I hate the Heat but they’re so cocky like three players can win a championship when they’ve been pushed to the brink of elimination in the playoffs. If they had developed the team more in the first year, they probably would’ve won one championship by the end of this year at least.

The heat have no assetts outside of the big 3 and no cap room outside of the MLE so they will not be a much different team next year. Mike Miller, Battier, Joell Anthony and even Haslem are all overpaid and will not be moveable. They should try to bring in a center that can actually give them some decent minutes. They could try to draft Ezeli if he is available but I would not settle for Fab Melo. If they don’t draft a big guy they use the MLE on a decent veteran.

yeah miami doesn’t have much room to move so they have to be smart with their decisions. Though it’s true that Miami needs a decent 5, I don’t see the point of drafting Ezeli or Melo who are both raw can’t really create for themselves on the block  and don’t have good enough hands to catch those bullet’s from wade and lebron when theey don’t see it coming.  Especially considering the salary it will take up, around 1.7mill for the 2 years at the 27 pick (correct me if I’m wrong) I’d rather move this pick for someone more ready to contribute.  And as since they don’t really have the assets to make any headline deals to instantly put this team over the edge, they have to ge tthat improvement internally. And I see Wade playing against the opisition’s 2nd unit make a big difference at least in the regular season.  No back up 2 can keep him infront of them nor can a bench big keep up with him on the pick and roll or contest without fouling.  Wade will make a living at the line coming off the bench.  Do you agree??

Grab nate Mc millan, draft doron lamb(lebron making him a way better boobie gibson, solid injury insurance for wade too), a last dance for marcus camby in the free agency, and that should do it.

They’ll always miss somebody in the post, but those guys need spacing to play efficiently.

Bigmens are over in this league(unfortunately).

That will be funny to see perk’ defend…nobody, in the nba finals.

Kaman would be a great fit on the HEAT, but with no many teams needing a starting center he will get more than 3million a year from the HEAT. When he started he still put up very good numbers last year so he is probably wanting to get that last payday.

Addin Norris Cole was a great addition through the draft.  I’ve thought they’ve needed to amnesty Mike Miller all season, but I think adding Fab Melo with their 1st round pick would be a good move, as would adding a shooter like John Jenkins because they spread the floor so well.  Even a bruiser like Kevin Jones would also give Haslem a break as their only real rebounder off the bench.

Lebron and Wade are so good they just need little tweaks, and they really did a good job making their team better with the draft last year.

I would love seeing Wade come off the bench. I don’t think he would accept the role though. That instantly makes them a much better team.

I still say Lebron or D-Wade for Dwight would make this team literally unstoppable.

I think it would be a good trade for both Miami and Orlando if they did a Wade-Dwight swap. Some other pieces may have to be included but it would give Miami a more balanced team and give Orlando a top 10 player (at least) in the league in return for Dwight which is the best return they could get imo.

I don’t think the Magic want a banged up aging Wade for the best center in the league
