Im not the biggest contributor on this site but I constantly read the forum. I figured I’d start a thread about players you liked or disliked in summer league. Even if their stats may not have been amazing this is all about YOUR opinion. For me, I loved what’s I saw from Malachi Richardon. I may be a little biased being a Cuse fan and I got to know him a little at Sixers/Knicks game late in the season before he officially declared for the draft. He was kind of hinting at leaving but I loved his basketball knowledge and he was seemed like a great kid. I always thought his game was better suited for the spacing in the NBA his jab step is lethal and if his shots falling I think he can be a good NBA player, kind of wish he went to a different situation than the Kings.  Richardson used to work out at the gym I go to when he was in HS. To say I know him well would be a huge exaggeration but I have played pick up ball with him on a few occasions. Seems like a good humble kid with a good work ethic off the court, but he also has that confidence you want to see in a scorer and isn’t afraid of the moment. Of course, that can easily turn into irrational confidence if you aren’t careful and that’s a fine line you tow with players like Richardson. It’s about having that confidence in your ability to score on anyone, but also figuring out how to best utilize that in a team setting. I would hate to see his career follow the same path as someone like Nick young (although I doubt he will ever get caught up in the off the floor distractions young did).

I’m not going to say I thought Richardson was 100% ready to enter the NBA and I’m not in love with the situation he landed in in Sacramento. However, sometimes you have to strike when the opportunity presents itself and it’s quite possible his draft stock may never have been higher than after his tournament run this year. I hope everything works out for him and he has a long NBA career.

 I’m also from Syracuse so I watched him play 30 times last year. The kid has so much talent and he wasn’t ready to leave for the league this season, but he has enough talent and athleticism to do so. I was really upset when he landed with the Kings with their pedigree for developing talent and the fact they decided to add 3 ok wing players that will play ahead of him. I hope he can crack the rotation this season so he can develop into the player he has shown he has the potential to be

 Dejounte Murray. The Spurs landed themselves a Russell Westbrook type talent who had NBA friend most of his life and loves the sport. Both of their lead gaurds are aging and on their way out the door. This guy is gonna be a star. His weight won’t be an issue as a combo gaurd.

I don’t think Westbrook is a good comparison, but I like Dejounte a lot. Usually you need to have a mid to high lottery pick to get someone as talented as Murray. But since Murray is a little wild and a few years away, people didn’t take him. The Spurs have the depth to hold onto him, the patience to teach him, and the personnel to teach him. I’m not a big Spurs fan, but I’m glad that’s where he went. 

The Spurs don’t even need high draft picks to get high quality players. I can’t believe they keep doing it.

ivica zubac was really impressive.  10.6 ppg 7.2 rpg 2.6 bpg in 23 mpg.  shot 65% fg and 82% ft.  thon maker got a lot of the publicity but i thought zubac was the more efficient of the two.

 Zubac is a beast. He should have gone first round. I have no idea why he didn’t. I honestly thought he would’ve been a great fit with the Celtics and I had him mocked to them at 16. So far, he’s looking to be everything I expected.

 Hes a brick wall defensively. Reminds me a bit of Ekpe Udoh and Steven Adams on that end of the court.

 He looked surprisingly efficient on offense. I think he’ll get outmuscled and will have trouble getting to the rack in post moves, but his mid-range should hold up. His positioning is good for rebounds, he should maintain that. His blocks were surprising too. He’s not a big leaper, but his wingspan, timing, and quick hands make him somewhat of a threat. I say somewhat because guys are going to get around him a lot. He’s not Roy Hibbert slow, but he’s far from the Nerlens Noel-types. I’m sure that he’s never worked properly on getting his core in gear or optimized his quickness. I think he’ll improve greatly at that eventually. Rudy Gobert sure did from the time he was drafted. I think the only reason he dropped was because teams wanted him to stay overseas. Teams (including the Lakers) didn’t know how far along he was.
