mike_r232ParticipantSorry if someone posted this already, but I’ve been watching some of Bill Simmons’ and Jalen Rose’s Grantland “job interviews” with the NBA prospects. I was really impressed by CJ McCollum’s in particular. Kid is extremely driven, poised, and articulate. He is willing (and I think able) to do anything that the team asks him to do. Something that lacks in some prospects these days is just being a respectable young man, and he certainly is one. Check out the video. Some of the others are worth watching as well.

DolanCareParticipantI’ve watched all the interviews from the top prospects. McCollum is actually a smart dude. The smart ones tend to stick out just because most of these kids didn’t make school that much of a priority.
Steven Adams, Hardaway Jr, Jackie Carmichael, Reggie Bullock all gave good interviews. Schroeder’s was interesting as well just because you could sense his somewhat impish nature

TheArtistPaysthePriceParticipantThe Youtube Grantland channel only has like Burke, Len, Dipo and a few others. I can’t find the others but there is a link after certain episodes to Porter, Zeller, and Glen Rice Jr but it wont actually go to there interviews.

TheArtistPaysthePriceParticipantI saw Ben McLemore’s combine interview and then Grantland’s and he has sixth grade intelligence. That has nothing to do with basketball but it could be a red flag for some teams.
McCollum is a guy a GM and coaches can sit down and have a conversation about advanced stats and where to take shots from and why. He should have no problem maximizing how good a defender he can be because he just gets it. That doesn’t mean he will be even a average defender but he would understand how to put himself in the best position.

aztwulfParticipantMost impressive young man. Handles himself very well, gives well thought out answers, and seems like he will be zero maintenance. He may have athletic limits that keep him from being an All-Star, but you come away from these interviews thinking that this kid really gets it, and is going to do whatever he can to be the best player that he can be.
I agree with the above comment about McLemore. I wouldn’t maybe go so far as to say 6th grade, but he certainly didn’t impress.

King CaluchaParticipantAlex Len looks very mature, too. From his own comments, he seems coachable.
