Why is it that all year every year I spend time on this site chatting about potential draft prospects and scenerio than on draft night the site crashes. There hasn’t been one year that I can remember I could post a topic in this forum during lottery selections.

pretty sure the traffic picks up crazy on draft night and it probably costs a lot of money to expand the server (or something like that, im no tech geek) so instead of paying the extra$ they just lose out for a few hours and shortly after draft  things are back to normal.

You can pay to have the bandwidth increased temporarily. My guess is they did, but not enough. NBA draft has to be one of the most common searches on draft day. I would think it would be worth the investment.

Yeah I’m kind of annoyed, I got home late and I’ve had my mock draft on my computer. My plan was to put it on the site before the draft started but I simply could not get to the site, it was dead and by the time I was finally able to get logged in it was already 12 picks in and was obviously locked. Guess it’s my own fault for waiting until the last minute, but still, annoying.

As far as the actual question, it’s mostly because the traffic, this site probably gets something like 10,000-50,000 views on a normal day and on draft night probably gets upwards of 1 million views. That’s a drastic change and something not a lot of sites can handle unless it’s a major corporation with a dedicated IT staff.

Draft night is how a lot of us found this site, I know it’s how I found this site many years ago. So not only is the view traffic super high but there are probably thousands and thousands of new members creating accounts all around the same time.

With EU referendum results coming through and following the draft on NBA.Com, I wasn’t going to be actively posting during the draft but would have liked to have likely to follow what the regular posters who I disscuss things with thought as events took place.

I hate how it always goes down. I understand theres a ton more people coming and the site just can’t keep up with that, but wouldn’t it be better to spend the extra $$$$ to make sure it doesn’t go down since you would be making more money as well?

Does not care about the site….I’ve said this before, they lean on there devoted forum posters to keep the site alive! I mean look at the layout of the page they clearly have no interest in updating it! As long as they make their money they don’t care!

It’s getting more and more ridiculous each year. Hence, why I turn to the site that you can not name.
