clw5382ParticipantWin the lottery and get the first pick, secure the Lakers pick at 4 because it fell outside the top 3 and then trade Okafor for another high lottery pick maybe to Boston! Anything outside of the top two picks this year isn’t amazing, so the Celtics would consider it.
If this happens they could end up with the following :
1st pick – Simmons
3rd pick – Murray
4th pick – Hield
That would give them a line-up next year of:
G Murray
G Hield
F Covington
F Simmons
C Noel/Embiid
The perfect team around Simmons – elite shooters in the back court, Murray being a combo but perfect for Ben as he is a pointG forward and then supported defensively by shot blockers Noel and Embiid.

Lebron’s HairlineParticipantI would switch Simmons with Ingram, I love Simmons more but they need shooting BAD and adding another versatile big man would completely phase out Dario Saric and make the pic redundant.

clw5382ParticipantIf you add Murray and Hield you have plenty of shooting and won’t need Ingram. Also Saric can come off the bench and add depth, he can shoot threes (40% this year) so no problem them playing together. Worst case you can still trade Dario later.

Hype MachineEnticing Saric to come over won’t come cheap.
He’s got more leverage than you’d think. He will be in high demand in Europe, and his ability to make endorsements there is higher than in America as a role player.
Plus he can say he prefers staying in Europe, regardless of whether it’s true or not.
I think the Sixers are looking at least a 3year, 30m contract to bring him over. In that case, his salary will closer reflect his true value as opposed to a rookie-scale bargain. That means he isn’t really the same trade chip.

CDPHParticipantIf Saric comes over this off-season (as he’s said 100 times that he will), he’s still under the confines of his rookie contract. Being the #12 pick in the draft, it will end up being a 4-year deal worth about 10.5M, give or take a couple hundred thousand either way.
Financially he could make a lot more if he came over next offseason, but the arguement for coming over (aside from playing against the best players in the world) is he gets to his second contract a year earlier and that’s the huge one.

Hype MachineIf he said hes coming over hes either a liar or an idiot.
Hed be playing against the best players in the world…but certainly not with them. Playing for Philly would suck.
Who is going to take a huge paycut to do that.
As for gettting to his second contract…his first contract would massively outweigh the extra he would make up if he waits another year.

CDPHParticipantNews broke today that Saric has told his teammates he intends to leave Europe for the 76ers this off-season.

MopgrassParticipantYou can never have enough shooting. Jamal Murray, Buddy Hield, and Brandon Ingram would provide great shooting. Eventually wow shooting. It also fills the 1, 2, and 3 position and spreads the floor like crazy.

phila9012ParticipantOkafor to the Celtics for the 4th or 5th pick makes sense. Even if they walked away with Murray, dunn and bender. They would be in a great spot. They need players and even in a weaker draft 3 top 5 or 6 picks is still pretty good and they would actually fit together.

HitsterParticipantIf Philly get the Lakers pick to come over then they will be delighted. Okafor to Boston is interesting. We don’t know what Danny Ainge will do, he may pull a draft night trade or draft and wait and see what happens in FA.
Personally I feel that Ainge will draft even if he cannot get Simmons or Ingram who he has the artilery to possibly trade up for and then when FA market opens look to make a move and depending what happens there possibly put the draft pick in play.
The idea by CLW is interesting and if Philly could pull it off would be a great coup for them.

Magic JordanParticipantDid you guys forget that Hinkie isn’t running the team anymore. It doesn’t seem likely that the Coangelos would want 3 more lottery picks heading into next season. If anything I think that they try to move their pick(s) for established players. The era of all these draft day trades for more and more draft picks have come to an end in Philly.

ExumInfernoParticipantA good plan you have, and realistic. There has to be passing, so Simmons works with J Murray and B Hield there.
Simmons over Ingram works here, as the 76ers do have Covington and Stauskas as well as the shooters they also draft.

Jerrell7ParticipantAs a philly resident I have no idea the team’s intentions in the draft now hinkie is gone. Some much cap space has to be used so the saric contract won’t matter really. I’d say they try to get one of the Hawks points. Can’t keep them both. We can’t have a roster this young. Sure it looks promising to have all these picks but we gotta get vets to help them out. Maybe trade for rubio. Oladipo even. We could sign Jennings. I want that lakers pick too. I hope that this draft rivals 03 and 96. Imagine getting 2 top 4 picks in those drafts. But like I said the front office has me nervous. No more scam hinkie.

220ParticipantI doubt the 76ers would trade Jahlil Okafor for anything but a top 2 pick in this draft, unless there is a strong package along with it. Jamal Murray is good, but Okafor despite his weaknesses and personal problems is worth more than that.

NBAjunkie81ParticipantStats……. Okafor is Well ahead of Both players in points & FG% & Even in Rebounds………. Now I want you to watch some playoff Basketball……
Look at how the game Slows down (for everyone But Golden State)……….. Look how Difficult it is to get a Half-Court bucket late in the game……. It’s an Absolute Grind……. Okafor in That setting is a Killer……
Why in the World would you want to Trade Okafor??? If you guy’s get Simmons……. & pair him w/ Okafor…….. you are Set for 10 years……..
There are Shooters in EVERY Draft……… & you have 10 – TEN – 1st round picks over the next 4 Drafts……. But there is No 6’11” 275 lb Centers w/ feet like a Ballarina & the Softest touch around the Rim……
You can play Zone defenses now in the NBA….. you can Minimize Okafor’s Defensive Liabilities w/ Perimeter Defenders……. you had the WORST team I have Ever seen this year & you want to Dump the ONLY good player on your team & he’s a 20 y/o……… Are you people Insane!?!?!?

SubZeroParticipantI can’t agree more. Shooters are a dime a dozen, but Okafor’s don’t come around very often. The right coach can mask his defensive setbacks, and I would bet that if they started winning, he would be way more motivated to rebound

The Scare Crow RisesParticipantNo way do you trade him for a Jamal Murray or Buddy Hield
The 76ers have plenty of assets to trade for 1 of those guys…
I want to build around Okafor inside and Ingram outside
Noel is our lock down defender, so he’s a keeper, Saric will be a great 6th Man, so he’s a core player too…
We just need to find an All Star PG somewhere between now and next summer (I’d throw a trade offer for Eric Bledsoe or Dennis Schroeder, although next year has a great PG class)
I want Stauskas, Smith and Saric off the bench along with Covington, Grant and the mystery man Joel Embiid… A starting lineup with Bledsoe, Ingram, Noel and Okafor only needs a SG and some time to develop chemistry, the wins will come in time…
