No I’m not a punk, but I love the NBA… I love the NBA so much I don’t even have a favorite team, Just the love of the game… And this summer could re-shape the league so dramatically that it can be the most important year in NBA history… The Heat could very well sign Wade, Bosh, n Lebron and be unstoppable PERIOD… But the League would be so watered down  if that happened that it wouldn’t be fun to watch… Then yu have the teams who didn’t win in the Max player sweepstakes that’s going to OVERPAY for underachieving players… Rudy gay shouldn’t be making more than 8 a year n Joe Johnson shouldn’t be making no more than 12, but we all know desperation kicks into GM’s heads n we have players I call bums because they get paid too much (ie Rashard Lewis)… It’s not only the money though… Teams make USELESS moves that have us scratching our heads like WHY!!! Why would yu draft 3 PG’s and trade for Ramon Sessions? Or signing Brandon Bass if your not going to play him? Or trade for Jamison if yu know if yu don’t win this year yu won’t be able to sign another Max player in FAgency to go along with your star player? And i can just imagine what this years scenrio will look like… Why would yu trade for Loul Deng n that contract? Why? Or sign Carlos Boozer to a Max deal? As fans of the NBA some of yu on this site have great ideas on trade situations that will be a perfect fit, BUT this is the NBA n nothing makes sense… Hopefully the league will shape up in a positive competitive way, but whatever happens I’m watching nervously…   And the road to disappointment starts today in NYC…

If Joe Johnson is worth no more than 12 million a year I don’t know how you can say Rudy Gay is worth 8 mill. Gay is 5 years younger than Johnson! Is a consistant 20 ppg scorer with good rebounding and solid defensive ability to boot. He is a proven commodity that is still very young and could be a number 2 option on a championship caliber team. 8 mill would be a bargain.

NYK will do what they always do. Overpay for top tier players who either are too old to perform the way they are expected or just dont have the winning mentality or are injury prone. We see it all the time.

Rudy Gay plays SF n at that position it’s not normal to start n yu don’t average around 5 to 7 rebounds a game, check the league… 2) I know he’s young but he hasn’t done anything in the league as of yet especially when he was considered the first option or second on a bad team… Rudy Gay making anything more than 8 to 10 million a year as a 3rd or 4th option is overpaying for a player that has a bad shot selection… That’s on some Loul Deng ish… Joe Johnson has been to All-Star games, but just isn’t a first option, but could be the 2nd… The starting salary for LeBron is 17 mil as a Max player… So yu telling me Rudy should be anywhere near that number?

    ^^^ I agree with you 100% ^^^

Gay isn’t worth anymore than $8-10. Anything over that is overpaying him.

He’s only averaged a legit 20 points per game once in his career and it’s always been on a bad team. Despite having the tools, he’s not a great defender. He’s a decent, not good rebounder. When you compare his rebounding numbers to a LeBron, Durant or Melo… Even a Luol Deng… He comes up short. He has bad shot selection and can be a ball stopper on offense.

He’s not worth what Johnson, a real proven player, is worth. Johnson is a second option on a championship caliber team, but you know he can at least lead a team to the playoffs as the top option.

D.Howard I don’t want yu to feel I’m coming at yu, but that’s why I started this topic… NBA teams have thought that same way for years n got unbalanced teams n inflated contracts… That’s why the league might go into a lock out soon… In this economic climate today overpaying for underachievers is dumb… And it kills the league as far as competition because players don’t have a need to get better n become a Superstar because they are already paid like one… Zach Randolph? Rashard Lewis? BD? Even role players r getting overpaid… Kirk Hinrich n Loul Deng? Tyson Chandler? Bums too… Eddy Curry, Jerome James, Blount, Dampier, Gadzuric, Adam Morrison (I just had to be funny, lol) but yu get my point… This year, if teams stay the course n keep a level head, NO player should be overpaid for what they produce…

I’m not one to usually go all grammar police on someone; but this was good analysis, and it’s tough to read when you lump it all together like that.

    knicks:
-sign joe johnson and rudy gay
-resign david lee, sergio rodriguez, bill walker, and earl barron
-buy a first round draft pick
-use that pick to select armon johnson
-trade the 39th pick and cash to washington for the 35th pick
-select darington hobson with that pick
-use their original draft pick to select Jarvis Varnado

    PG—Armon Johnson/Toney Douglas/Sergio Rodriguez
    SG—Joe Johnson/Wilson Chandler/Bill Walker
    SF—Rudy Gay/Darington Hobson
    PF—David Lee/Danilo Gallinari
    C—-Earl Barron/Jarvis Varnado/Eddy Curry

MIA can’t sign 3 max guys and be respectable….It’s like having 3 good ass players in a 5 on 5…those 2 scrubs get you killed by the other teams average players…Wade will be leaving MIA and MIA will respond by signing Lebron or Bosh and moving on….They’ll be no All Star Connection in MIA…or Chicago or NY…Chicago has no Cap room to sign anything more than 1 max guy…NY and MIA are in terrible shape as far as their rosters are concerned…there is no stable line up in place in NY and MIA…the Bulls will get 1 star…NY 1 star…MIA 1 star….The rest of the League will be better after these so called stars have to do it on there own….LBJ in NY by himself…Wade in Chi Town by himself…Bosh in Houston by himself…
Amare in MIA by himself…No Stars are going to take a pay cut and no body’s going to take on The Bulls or The Heats bad contacts to help pair 2 superstars to dominate the League…Think about…If the Bulls want LBJ and Bosh….Some one will have to say Okay to Deng and Hinrich for LBJ or Bosh…who’s doing that…

NIGGA D. WADE IS STAYIN PUT, HE HAS A RING AND NOTHING TO PROVE TO ANYONE AS FAR AS MONEY SUCCESS AND TALENT GOES. HE IS ONLY PLAYING THE “I’LL LEAVE” CARD TO PRESSURE MIAMI INTO MAKIN’ A MOVE HE CAN WORK WITH, IF HE LEAVES, HIS CAREER WILL BE OVER WINNING WISE. NOT THAT ITS THE BEST IT COULD BE RITE NOW, BUT AT LEAST THERE’S DEFINATE POTANTIAL ON MIAMI, THEY’RE STILL A PLAYOFF TEAM EASILY

Perfect example Kirk Hinrich to the Wizards??????????????????????? Why? Why? Why? You take on a contract you don’t need, you have Gilbert already, and you free up cap space for LeBron n Co. to win championships in your conference? Not to mention thats damn near the same team the Bulls had with D. Rose, Gordon, and Hinrich… A bunch of PG’s (in height)…

    And the disarray starts!!!

Why would the Knicks want Rudy Gay? when they have Galinari and Wilson Chandler making first round money.

I’m a mild techno-phobe & don’t use any of that stuff, so didn’t even think about that. Your thumbs must have been about to fall off after all that.

I agree that trade doesn’t make much sense for Washington & pretty much takes them out of the hunt in the FA derby. Sacramento would have been a much better trading partner for Hinrich & 17 – although it’s a little tough to say for sure since no one knows what the compensation going back to Chicago will be yet.

All I know is that with all these teams dumping good players and high picks to be players in free agency, somebody is bound to be sorely disappointed when they whiff on LBJ & company and they think of all the value they gave away to do so.
