I’m going to laugh when the Knicks and Nets finish at the bottom of the league and get top 5 draft picks.  Then the Knicks pick goes to Nuggets for Carmelo trade (making the Carmelo trade highway robbery for the Nuggets – who were already winners in my mind).  The Nets pick goes to the Hawks for Joe Johnson (who is possibly the worst contracts in the NBA besides Arenas who still gets paid like $20MM).  Those teams could have had players equivalent to Carmelo and better than Johnson if this happens.

LOL..Thats the Beauty of being in a major market,they can take chances that small market teams cant afford……Becuz they have owners with endless amounts of money and they also have huge tv deals that bring revenues….And they’re always in a win now mode….

Look at the 2 yr 48 million the Lakers just signed Kobe..I’m a huge Kobe fan,but he’s 35 and trying to come back from a major injury….Look at the Nets they have the biggest payroll in the nba,and just reassigned an assistant they just gave a 6 million dollar deal…

You have to admire owners like Heat owner Mickey Arison,who allows a guy who knows the game like Pat Riley to make the decisions….Some owners are often meddlers and know nothing about hiring the right people to run their teams….

RUDEBOY, youre right that they can afford these bonehead mistakes.  But honestly, how are the knicks going to fix their team?  Carmelo will probably leave this year.  What big free agents are going to want to come to the Knicks after that?  I don’t see a very bright future for the Knicks.  Nets still have time to turn this year around, but if they dont, they’re screwed as well cause they’re not going to be any younger next year.  And with a depletion of draft picks over the next few years, they’re going to have to keep signing.  Hopefully theyll get better deals than Joe Johnson.

I think people give Riley too much credit…  he really didn’t do much.  Lebron, Wade, and Bosh already made the plans, he just made sure to have no one on contract.  Ray Allen came to the team because of that trio, not because of anything Riley did.
