ZouldiersParticipantErsan Ilyasova traded to the Hawks for Tiago Splitter and a 2nd round pick. Wow, ok. For the Hawks, they got deeper and for the Sixers, this gets them more picks and losing more games. What are your thoughts on this?

EndlessknightParticipantApparently it’s 2 2nds. Not bad, the SIxers weren’t going to resign Ilyasova and Splitter is a FA. Thus its basically 2 months of Ilyasova for 2 2nd round picks. That’s a good haul.

holefillers1ParticipantDario has been the better player over the last month. Hopefully when Embiid returns he can supply that same cohesion that Erson brought. Not sure if Dario jumps into starting rotay but he gets first dibs imo

negguaryParticipantwe’re not paying you in Philly!

str8upParticipantATL is sending the second rounder they got from Miami, which is protected from 31-40, and they are swapping other second rounders as well. I believe that means that PHI gets Brooklyn’s second rounder this year which could be a nice value.

Sewok15ParticipantI just made another much more long winded post about this. If they get the 31st overall pick for a player they probably weren’t resigning anyway I’ll take it.

warson24Sorry guys, that swap is from 60th to the fifties, as Sixers could swap GS second rounder (from utah) with the Hawks’ own selection!

OhCanada-ParticipantI just don’t see how this benefits the Hawks. They just drafted two SF’s DeAndre Bembry and Teaurean Prince pwraps theyfelt getting younger next off season wasnt an option. Their best player plays the same position at PF. Even if you put Ersan at SF his value is not enough to legitimately take thier team to a new level. Then they give up two 2nd round picks which are both valuable and similar value to late 1st.
Whether or not they were committed to a rebuild I feel those picks could have been used a bit better. With that being said I still feel like this makes them better and the team will be competitive. I just think that Cleveland, Boston, Toronto and possibly Washington are better teams.

Sewok15ParticipantErsan pretty much strictly plays the 4 anymore with some very limited stints at the 5 in Philly. He doesn’t have the footspeed to be guarding many 3’s and would lose a lot of his offensive effectiveness as well.
It seems weird considering the Hawks were looking to be in rebuild mode after the Korver deal and Milsap rumors. Now they are giving up assets but Ilyasova is a player they can use going forward. He and Milsap are both 4’s but you can still find 20 minutes a game to play him if you are willing to be undersized.
Atlanta seems to be stuck in mediocrity fighting for the playoffs with no real shot to win so I would like to see a full rebuild but it seems like they are content just making the playoffs.

r377ParticipantMore draft picks for the Sixers. Are they building a bball team or a football team ?
They have already had 14 second rounders over the past 4 drafts !!! how many of them are actually on the roster today ?

Sewok15ParticipantThat would be one….Richaun Holmes. Solid player just doesn’t get the time to show it. They made some other moves that got other picks using those 2nd rounders as well…but generally 2nd rounders aren’t that important. KJ Mcdaniels and Jerami Grant come to mind.

holefillers1ParticipantYeah they have actually done better with UDFA like RoCo and TJ. If those two or any of these 2nd rounders can get into their second contract with the Sixers then its worth it. This is really the type of trade that made Hinkie famous…infamous

The GoatParticipantI think something around Mirotic for Okafor may happen, stay tuned…

negguaryParticipantthat sounds about right a player on a rookie deal, for a player whose contract is up at the end of the year!
