GrandmamaParticipantNBATV is airing the 1984 draft at 2am cst. Considered the greatest draft ever, I will definitely tune in. Jordan, Hakeem, Barkley, Stockton…sick draft. I’d like to hear what the specialists are saying when Sam Bowie is drafted over Jordan.

RUDEBOY_ParticipantI still dont understand why after all these years people are still knocking Portland for selecting Bowie over Jordan..If Hakeem had decided to remain in college Bowie wouldve went number 1..
And Nobody knew Jordan would turn out to be the greatest player of all time..At the time Portland needed a big man..They had Jim Paxson who was a all star and the year before they drafted Drexler who was very similar to Jordan…Drexler ended his career as 1 of the 50 greatest players..
It might be hard to believe it now,but if Jordan had waited and came out his senior year,he would’ve went 4th in the 1985 Draft behind Ewing,Tisdale and Benoit Benjamin..I know it seems laughable now,but Benjamin 1 of the all time busts, wouldve went ahead of Jordan…Becuz teams back then felt only big men could lead teams to a title..But guys like Jordan Magic and Bird changed that ….

Dohnny JeppParticipantBeing a Blazers fan that’ll be hard to watch, but I still want to see it. I agree completely with RUDEBOY, same goes for the Oden sitch. When polled not to long ago something like 80% of the GM’s admitted they would have taken him #1 also, so please people quit with the stupid redundant "Portland ____ bigman, over this MVP" conversations. Hindsight is 20-20.

paradigmnParticipantand they allready had a SG in Clyde Drexler….with that being said….they F!@#ED UP!!!…Granted scouting was not nearly what it is today with technology allowing coaches and scouts to really know the ins and outs of a player….but Jordan had 3 years in college to show what he could do….and he did…winning numerous awards and a national championship, with the game winning shot mind you…..heres a lil taste of Mike in college…

Knicksboy3ParticipantIf you read Simmons book, they had a offer on the table to move up. Milwaukee offered Sidney Moncrief for Jordan after he was picked, Philadelphia offered Doctor J for him.
